I ordered some v-pure when I first saw this thread and the 3 for 2 deal, but then they canceled my order because it was back ordered (which it clearly was already when I ordered it). I just bought some of these http://www.northcoastnaturals.com/products/vegedha.php but now that I'm comparing the ingredients the DHA and EPA content is tiny compared to V-pures!

Does anyone have any recommendations for supplements besides V-Pure? I've been eating hemp seed lately and noticing some positive effects (though it might be placebo), but I'd like to take a supplement. Since V-Pure is chronically out of stock, it seems, can anyone recommend a second best?

Thanks! Now, who wants to tell me how much DHA is recommended daily?

I've been taking Deva DHA but I'm planning to switch to V-Pure because they're cheaper. I take them mostly because I don't always get enough in my diet and there have been some small studies that link low levels of omega-3s with depression, so raising my levels can't hurt.

I started taking Pure One DHA. I think it has a good amount of DHA per capsule (300mg). Also, it doesn't have the random herbs that some of the other brands have. It is super expensive though. I got it through Pangea.
I ordered the V-Pure and then canceled because of the wait. Also, I didn't like that the dosage was for 2 pills, I'd rather take one. I want a brand I can rely on, especially since I am thinking about having a baby. I don't want a few months wait between bottles.

I take the Deva brand one. I have total brain fog all the time though so it obviously doesn't work.

Heh, I assume you're kidding, but if you are having cognitive issues, dha's probably not going to help according to the latest research. If veg*ns have cognitive issues, lack of vitamin d, b-12 or iron are the usual culprits.

So...some of my DHA's (the Pure Ones) have weird brown things floating in them. Anyone know what that is? I hope they aren't contaminated!

My doctor wants me to take 600 mg of DHA per day, you guys, and goddamn I don't have money. Anyone in Canada know of supercheap veg DHA sources? What if I chug flax seed oil?

Chugging flax is not recommended. It's actually toxic in large quantities. I don't think there are any supercheap sources unfortunately.

Can you order v-pure? If you take three pills a day of that and get the buy 3 for the price of two offer, you're paying about $20 a month. http://www.v-pure.com/omega3/

yeah, I actually just ordered that while you were posting. In hindsight I probably should have ordered 6 instead of 3. Ah well, next time.

I saw a dietitian and she recommended 300-500mg/day. I'm not sure if that was specific to the pre-conception counseling or in general as well. I got the picture it was more important if you are having a baby than in general.

Anyone know where to get cheap omega 3's/DHA in Canada? Everything online costs so much to ship here but I can't find anything that's not too pricy in the stores. I'm not a big fan of the oils, no matter what I sneak it into I hate finding creative ways to mask the flavour/texture of oil and they tend to be more expensive anyway. I do put flaxseed in my smoothies but I want to cover my DHA bases.
