Hey PPK office types! Do you work in an office with recycled air? Do you have this problem? It drives me friggen crazy.
I shower in the morning and go on my merry little way to be an office drone. Not even 2 hours into the day my face feels like an oil slick. Everytime I go to the bathroom I splash my face with cool water and blot dry with a paper towel which helps, for about 20 minutes.
On the weekends, when I shower in the morning, I can go the entire day without feeling oily.
What's the deal? Is it the climate controlled recycled air doing this to me? Or do I just have skin that only wants to be greasy when I'm at work.
I don't wear face makeup like concealer, foundation, , etc to work. I only ever wear eye shadow, liner and mascara. On the rare occasion that I do wear face makeup to work the oil problem is 100x worse. On the weekends I wear makeup all day/night with no problems. This seems a little backwards to me. hmph.

i used to have this problem. sounds like your skin might be overcompensating for the dry air. try wearing a light of moisturizer to work.

i have this problem, too. when i'm at home, i'm fine, my skin doesn't get too oily. but when i go to school (especially when i was in high school) my skin seems to get oily much faster. i don't know if it's because i'm moving around and my body is in full motion and i'm slower at home, or what. i never figured out the cause of it.
it must be what barbie said about compensating for dry air.

Another vote for dry air. Airplanes are especially horrible. The water might even be aggravating the situation, so I would recommend just blotting with a paper towel if you're feeling too greasy. Toilet seat covers are also great for blotting!

I have this too, but I never was able to really figure out why. The dry air makes sense though, but I do always moisturize. I just hate feeling all greasy at the end of the day!

Are you stressed at work (more so than at home anyway)? The only thing besides temperature (or hormonal shifts!) that seems to affect the oily-ness of my skin is stress, and it does so quite noticeably.

My face gets pretty oily at work too, but is fine on the weekends. I would recommend that you not wash your face so often though because your face is probably producing more oil to compensate for the dryness after you wash it all off (does that make sense?) Just lightly moisturize in the morning and use blotting sheets when necessary.
