Free quality topo maps are hard to find.

I really could use some high res scans to use for labs. I want to give groups of kids print outs and have them create their own hiking trails that meet certain criteria. They always have trouble reading topo maps, so good examples would be so useful.

I don't even need full maps: just high res 8x11 scans of a random section from a big map would be perfect. Most of the free online ones are too hard to read/ fuzzy. I need really legible contour intervals so kids don't freak.

My new school doesn't have any. PM or email me if you can help.

Thanks!

Could you ask people at your old college to make one for you out of their GIS programs, in the GIS classes, as a practice? If you happened to know the GIS prof, you might get lucky!

I don't have any scanned ones, sadly.

I can see if I can somehow get my hands on some stretch of the Parkway up in Virginia, on a topo but I don't really work in resources so its not likely. But I can try!

Not sure if you can use non-usa maps, but there are free topo maps (1:50,000 or 1:250,000 scale) of New Zealand here:

http://www.linz.govt.nz/topography/topo-maps

The files are big, but the resolution is great.

Thanks! Yeah, I don't really care where they are from.

I might know someone who uses GIS who will do that; I'll ask.
