But its healthy

crepe - i just bought a single serving of this one over the weekend to see if it tasted better than the vega sport.

the carb count is too high for me for first thing in the morning, and a "serving" is 2 scoops w/ 16oz of water - so it'd be like drinking two shakes, but I was going to play with adding some fat to it because I do like that it basically replaces a multi-vitamin and also has probiotics built-in... hopefully it isn't much worse than the vega.

yes - "tastes like ugh" was 100% accurate :(

it was like a glass full of odd smelling mud. it would do in an emergency situation, like a zombie apocalypse or something similar where there is no other food to be found... but definitely not something I am going to do to myself everyday.

Lately I've been combining brown rice and pea protein isolate--tastes great! Add some orange juice, a little rice milk, banana, and ice cubes, and you got yourself a killer way to kick off the day.

Tried to edit my last post but I guess I can't anymore?

Anyways, if anyone is interested in reading more about protein I'd high recommend The Protein Book by Lyle McDonald http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/the-protein-book

It's a comprehensive book written about protein aimed mainly towards athletes but it covers everything. It has a good section on vegan protein powders too. This is one of my favorite books ever. If anyone is interested but cannot afford the price for some reason or another I'd be happy to mail you my copy to read. This book is an amazing resource for anyone interested in the subject.

There's a limited window of time for editing posts, which is inconvenient when the forum or your internet goes down.

The last time I ordered from true nutrition. (True protein) they sent me bags and I had to mix it all myself. Big mess! When did they start doing that?

Also, made the mistake of buying vega sport chocolate flavor because it was on sale at Sprouts. I say mistake because it tastes so good compared to the true nutrition stuff but cost so much more. With the new mix-it-yourself model I am definitely rethinking cost vs hassle.

Does anyone that's tried PlantFusion find that it has a super strong stevia taste, kind of like Vega? I'd like to try it but it's expensive to order online and I'm wondering if I should save my money.

so we cannot get protein powder down around here - the taste/texture is a big factor. i took to making protein power balls....i add protein powder, chia seeds, pb...all sorts of yummy stuff that has a super protein kick minus the chalky powder taste.

I bought the PC (Superstore) veg powder for the first time in a couple of years - I have been using the Costco one but I forgot to buy some last time I was out there so bought the PC one. It's only $24 for the big tub but I don't remember it having an after-taste of feet & compost. Eww.

I've been thinking about buying Vega to try but it is so damn expensive. However, as others have mentioned, it does cover all of your vitamin needs, which I'm having trouble doing with my diet at the moment. If I were to buy Vega for mixing into smoothies and just drinking on it's own, what's the best flavor?

Apologies in advance because I have not read the whole thread, but my husband picked up the Vega One vanilla flavor and it is pretty yummy. I've had it a few mornings but it is so expensive that I feel guilty drinking it. The last time I tried a protein powder was about 8 years ago and I recall it tasting like grass so I was really impressed with the flavor of Vega.
I did like the chocolate too but I preferred the vanilla.
I did a lot of comparison shopping and found it was cheapest at our local Better Health store, though you may be able to find a good deal online.

Ok, I bit the bullet and bought the Vega vanilla stuff, totally skeptical that it could be worth that $. And.... it pretty much smokes every other protein powder I've tried. No chalkiness at all. I'm grudgingly a convert.

I also just bought some Vega protein powder - the chocolate version. It is really, really good and I am happy to finally have a protein powder I'm okay drinking just mixed with almond milk and some ice for a little extra body. I bought it while my store was having a 1/3 off sale on Vega stuff - I actually wound up buying two containers in the course of a week and a half, a big jug and a plastic packet, because I am forgetful like that. Anyway, even on sale, it's $2-3 a serving and that is already insane. Has anyone tried to make their own Vega powder? I don't care about all the BCAAs and enzymes and vitamins and b.s. like that, I just want the protein powder mix, some non-nutritive sweetener, and chocolate flavor (assuming the stevia + chocolate flavor is what makes this actually taste good and it isn't all the extra fluff). I've sort of gotten bored with eating these days and am still low-carbing it, so I'm drinking a shake or two every day instead of a meal. I'm going to burn through this stuff really fast.

Duh, just read the whole thread. Definitely going to get a mix from that customizing protein website next time around. Looks fun to play with, although they didn't seem to have a just plain chocolate "naturals" flavor.

My favorite protein powder is Natureade Pea Protein. It's pretty affordable (a 16 oz container is $13-15 depending where you get it) and tastes the best of what I've tried. It mixes into smoothies really well and isn't chalky. The PlantFusion stuff made me gag and I just used a packet of raw Marley Coffee protein from Garden of Life (I think) and the texture was so grainy and terrible I almost couldn't drink it. Bleh.

I'm almost through my jar of NutriBiotic brown rice protein powder. It's been totally inoffensive to me, but I'm considering trying something else when it's done (because if it's not broke, break it, am I right). Maybe pea protein! Or maybe the unsweetened SunWarrior if I ever manage to find it.

Plant fusion chocolate is my jam! I think the vanilla has a weird taste, but the chocolate is mild and mixes in really well. It's the first one I could drink on it's own (mixed with coconut water).

Yeah, I tried the vanilla and it was really grossly stevia-sweet. I do need some chocolate powder, though, so I might see if Whole Foods has any of the little packets and test that flavor out.

Ordering a vegan custom blend from truenutrition.com will be cheaper.

Have any of you guys used Shakeology? I guess it's more of a meal replacement/health shake than a straight protein powder but I was just curious!
