I use the Crank Bros pedals and like them - except - any time I've biked since getting my mtb shoes and pedals, I get a hotspot on the ball of my left foot that hurts the entire time I'm riding. Any ideas?

Insoles? I hear Specialized makes some good ones...

I tallied up my rides for July: 592 miles/32,217 feet of climbing. I'm pretty pleased!

could try moving the cleat a bit forward or backwards depending. ive read some newer developments that riding with the cleat farther back can do wonders. havnt tried it myself though.



badass! i couldnt get that much climbing done if i wanted to! on the opposite end of the spectrum i was able to do 70miles with a max elevation 11ft. Take that SF! :)

just signed up for the first cross race/s of the season. double header weekend and my first go at the 2/3/4 field. time to get in shape.

Thinking I'm going to try and get my hands on a CAAD X cross bike. I had no idea they existed, but if I like the CAAD X cross as much as I love my CAAD X road bike, I will be stoked.

how different are the geo of the caad10 vs the caadX?

They're pretty similar, as far as I can tell. The bottom bracket of the X is higher, of course, and the frame is a bit shorter overall, but it's quite similar otherwise.

I'm still going to look at some other bikes, but it appears the Marins are all out of stock (they didn't make enough to keep up with demand, apparently) and the other options in my price range don't look as appealing as the Cannondale.

thats a shame. i mean its good that there selling well but sucks if it fit well and you cant find any. at least used cross bikes are much easier to pick up than they use to be.

What a week for GB on the boards!

Really starting to love clipless pedals. Hadn't noticed the extra power they provide the first few days I had them as I was solely focused on unclipping and not falling over, but I totally notice it now. Clipless flicks the weasel!

Ahh Geekhouse's are sweet! Ive never heard of Carl Shawver before though. Id love a custom bike one day but dont know if I would know exactly what i wanted in a setup quite yet. The SSCX was for a city/rain commuter but i picked up a IRO Rob Roy from a friend for a set of cranks +$100. Hoping to have some of the build done soon!

addict status. the new sscx bike

I'm trying to fundraise for some charity ride I'm doing and I'm having nothing but problems finding people to give money. Largely, I think part of the problem is that this is not my first charity ride of the season and people might be burnt out on giving. I put a link up on my shop's website and am going to throw out another round of emails but I'm only 37% of my way to my $300 commitment. Any advice?

I've seen people set their trainers up outside grocery stores with signs about what they're fundraising for and then just riding for a few hours for whatever donations people drop in the ol' fishbowl. My sister and her friend set up at a farmar one day when they were fundraising for LLS Team in Training and did pretty well. Downside is that you may have to explain what the trainer is and how it works 367 times.
