Planned to go 8 miles this morning but it was pretty hot and I only made it 3.1. Oh well, tomorrow is another day!

It doesn't matter how far you go as long as you're going!

I had a lovely run in the neighborhood today and managed to scoot up The Hill. Great day to be out.

Beautiful morning! Once the weather breaks 70, I'm miserable. So mid-60s in the clear, sunny morning was perfect. 5.5 again! Perhaps 6 this weekend? We'll see.

Again 50 minutes last night. Now I really hope it doesn't start raining because I still need at least 30 minutes to meet the weekly goal, and I want to run!

Yay monkeytoes!

I just did my first successful "run more than 3 consecutive minutes"
I am an avid hater of running.
I am going to reap the benefits of getting over it.

I just bought a pretty pair of running shorts so now I have to run a lot to get to use them. 10 K in August here I come!

I just finished up my first 13-miler! The weather is beautiful this morning, and all of the animals are out. I saw two snakes, ducks, gooses (with their babies!), and a bunny eating a flower stem. And then, in my last mile, I actually tripped over a live prairie dog who was hiding on the trail!

When is the marathon Monkeytoes? So exciting.

This morning I went to the store recommended by my physiotherapist to get new running shoes (Aerobics First). It was a really great experience, better than I had the two times I went to Running Room. I am hanging up my Kinvaras for a more cushioned but still not full-on shoe, NB 1080. I tried quite a few shoes from minimal to full heel and this one was definitely the best. I'm looking forward to ramping up my running again.

How do you all deal with calluses? I'm working on correcting my mild over-pronantion, but in the meantime have developed some pretty fierce calluses on my two outer toes on each foot. They've started to become pretty painful toward the end of longer runs. My big toes have always had calluses (I'm originally from Florida, so I spent my life barefoot and in flip-flops), but, likewise, they've grown and starting getting sore during longer runs.

I'm finding contradictory suggestions online: some people say to use a Ped Egg or pumice stone and/or moisturize, while others say to leave calluses alone. If they weren't painful I would do the latter, but I think something needs to be done. I've never been one to give my feet much attention, but I suppose I should work on that.

Also, apparently calluses can be caused or exacerbated by cotton socks! I only ever run in cotton socks, because I read somewhere that they're superior for cushioning (I run on concrete paths most of the time), but I think I might pick up a pair of wicking socks and see if things improve.

PRed this morning and hit my goal of doing my second 5K in under 40 minutes...woot!

As for the calluses...leave them alone. I got rid of mine on the inside of my big toe earlier this week and now it's sore there and I have a tiny blister. Mine was slightly painful too. It's more so now. :p

Congrats on the PR!

And thanks for the callus feedback. I think I might start moisturizing my feet and throwing on a pair of socks before bed to see if it helps a bit. If it were just a bit of soreness I wouldn't mind, but they've gotten large enough that they feel pinched pretty badly after 5-6 miles of running. One of them cracked open today, too. Blech.

Yay everyone is doing so awesome!!

Went on another trail run today...well it was more of a 'rike' (run + hike). Some of the inclines/declines were way too steep/technical for running, but it was super fun!

Not 'til February. I can't dive into marathon training until the tri season is over... I still have the pesky matter of a half-Ironman coming up in 7 weeks. But my sister and I loved Austin so much when we were there in October, so we decided the Livestrong marathon was an excellent excuse to go back.

I have runners knee so am now off the long distance flat running and onto the hill stuff to build up my thighs... not so bad tho, I am enjoying hill sprints and scrambles, and even got a longish 8km run over a mountain trail the other day. Different type of fitness!

I was just outside running even though it was raining and windy. I wanted to use my new shorts so I did even though it was kind of cold. I love them! My legs feel so FREE!

My first 10k race this morning! And I only missed my goal time by 24 seconds which isn't too bad considering i was on an 11.5 hour flight last night and hadn't run much in the last 2 weeks.

Love the shorts pannkakan!

Nice shorts Pannkakan!
Good job Inceptisol - running after an 11.5 hour flight sounds rough!

I took advantage of the only two rain-free hours of today to go for a Sunday run, with the idea of doing a nice long one. Unfortunately, because it had just stopped raining and the sun was shining hot, it was also terribly humid, plus I had eaten oatmeal with fruit at 10 am and then nothing until I went out at 3:30 pm. The result was that after 20 minutes I felt faint and had to cut the session short and walk home. Shame on me! Note to self: running on an empty stomach in the heat of the afternoon is not a good idea.

Getting back into it again. I almost did a full 5k today, which was my stopping point when I gave up my running in December. It's good to be back!
