I pulled the plug and registered for the full marathon in October. I'm running for a local cat rescue and I've already raised $150 the first day! That definitely gives me the motivation to get up early tomorrow and go running in the crazy humidity.

Woo!

Good luck Nebraska! You got this!

I'm running a 5k tomorrow, and E is running his first kid race. He is really excited because when we did packet pickup, the volunteer who was handing out the bibs was like "you'll get a goodie bag after the race!" and now he can't stop talking about GOODIE BAG GOODIE BAG GOODIE BAG. Hey man, we all race for different reasons, it's cool.

Go Nebraskalaska, c&s and kid! I understand the excitement over the goody bag. My last marathon was sponsored by a brewery and after I finished I had the best beer of my life. That's my idea of a goody bag.

The Emperor had a good run-- he ran into a school friend and they chatted the whole 1k away. They finished as 2nd and 3rd 4 year olds, heh.

My 5k was good! New race PR for me-- 23:08-- and second in my age group. Considering that I woke up really feeling like shiitake this morning, I'm beyond psyched.

I did it! My legs and feet got pretty tired about halfway, but they just stayed the same level of tired for the second half and it didn't get worse! I finished strong!

My boss ran it with me. We made coordinating cat running outfits. I'm on the right! You can't see it in this picture, but the shorts have a pink strip of the same cat fabric as my shirt.

Yay Nebraskalaska! And yay E (aw!) and C&S!

I feel like a big imposter posting in here with the real runners, but I ran my first 5k today. I kind of waffled about doing it and didn't feel super ready but I'm glad I did it. It was the first time I've ever run in a group (and the only time I've run any appreciable distance without headphones, ha). It was pretty fun! Now to get faster...

Yay! Congrats Pinko! Don't feel fakesies. Lots of us are new (I ran my first race just over 6 months ago).

I love running in a group. I wish my schedule aligned with a running club in the area... It would be fun to run with other people outside of race conditions! And there is a group that I've had a lot of contact, they host or help host a lot of races in the area and I've run into their runners all over... But they run late on weekends (I need to get done early!) and early on weekdays (I'm not in town til late!) so I can't figure out how to make it work.

Um, can I commission a marathon outfit? Should we be team veggie or something?

Go pinko! You ran, therefore you are a runner!

Nice one on your PR C&S!
Well done on your race Nebraskalaska. Fab outfit!
Pinko, Congrats on your first 5k.

I just got back from my first 10 mile run. Double digits at last! I ran all along the coastal path & then, when I'd finished, went & got myself a huge soya latte before catching the bus home. The weather was perfect for running but a massive storm started while I was getting my coffee & waiting for the bus so I got soaked. It was a relief to get in the shower to warm up. I really enjoyed it but the last mile was hard...

It's been so hard for me to stick with regular running when I'm working/winter. I'm off for the summer and I have been running consistently again and it feels great. My mood is so much improved on days when I run. I need to remember that when I am trying to get my asparagus out of bed to go.

I just signed up for a half in the fall to keep up my motivation.
