Anyone else do aerials or flying trapeze? I just started taking an aerials class (rope, silks, static trapeze) a few months ago and love it. Philly doesn't have a flying trapeze unfortunately. I took one flying trapeze class in NY a few weeks ago and now I REALLY wish there was one here. It was so much fun!

Why do you say "wised up"?

TSNY's great and all, especially if you're just starting out because they're really into safety. But the classes are pretty expensive unless you can go really early on a weekday somehow and they go so incredibly slowly because 95% of the people in the drop in classes are beginners. And they're very cautious about letting you move onto advanced tricks, learning to swing, learning to do a trick out of lines, etc. If you ever get to where you're wanting to/able to take a class every week, I'd recommend signing up for one of the intensive workshops as they're a little more lenient/advanced there. Streb is cheaper, has more advanced students, smaller class sizes and the turns go much quicker (partly because the rig is only 3/4 size... the one downside compared to TSNY).

I have no abdominal muscles to speak of, AND I'm scared of heights, BUT I forking love it and am sort of addicted (though I can't do it that often because it's sort of expensive). It's so freaking fun and the people in SF at least who run the classes are really great and funny and clearly know what they're doing. Also it's fun to watch more advanced students do crazy shiitake.

Impressive flip in the video! Good to know about the different schools. I doubt I'll get to do it frequently since I don't live in NY or have the money/time to travel up there frequently. One of instructors at TSNY said they're looking into opening a school in Philly which would be awesome. I'm totally addicted after just the one class I did and am already wondering when I can go back and do it again. I love my aerials class but the flying trapeze is much more of an adrenaline rush!
Oh, and for those who have never done flying trapeze, it doesn't really require that much at all in the way of ab or arm strength, at least not for the basic stuff. Momentum helps you a lot with swinging your legs up and over the bar. Static trapeze is a different matter entirely though!

Going to my first class at Trapeze Arts in Oakland ( http://www.trapezearts.com/) tonight all by myself - ie, I won't have vegimator around to make me feel better when I do shitty. EEKS! Nervous. :3 But excited.
