I did my first outdoor run for a very, very long time and it was splendid. I should have gone on for longer, but I went on autopilot and just did my usual old route. 3.75 miles, so about 6km.
I forgot how much more interesting it is running outside!

I was running an experiment which was semi-automated, in the sense that it only needed my interaction every 20 minutes and went for several hours. There's some kind of crane type thing in the lab which sits on some I beams that stretch across the room. It isn't used for anything and I was really bored, so I did a bunch of pull up negatives from it. Then some burpees. Then I just gave up on specific motions and just generically started climbing on it. Does that count?

Today was crazy as I could barely sleep worrying about my cat that had surgery yesterday. Anyway, I woke up at 3am, checked the cat, tossed and turned until 6am when I got up.
Anyway, got to the gym a little before 8, did my warm up and warm up stretches, then worked with the trainer until nearly 10 (our schedule is 8am to 9am). So I was basically in the gym for 2 hours :)

Lower body workout at the gym. I've been trying to perfect my squat technique for months now, but I never improve. Which is very weird, because I'm getting stronger in everything else. I've looked through loads of guides and tutorials but I guess I must be doing something wrong.

Moved to a new apartment. Several hours of carrying heavy things up and down stairs.

Love Child, is there a personal trainer you can ask? Or can you post a video of your squat? My issues with squats are different but what helped me improve squats was to either squat against a wall (both facing and not) and squatting with something to hold as support. Box squats where you squat to a box are also a good way to improve.
My workout today was an hour of zumba and 30 minutes of upper body weights.
Tomorrow, due to the holiday, my gym has limited hours so my plan is to go around 9 and get a weight workout in.

No, no PT:s at my gym... At least not when I'm there, in the late mornings. Though I could try to film my squats on my next leg day, I could use someone else's input. I'll definetely try the box squat variation too, I think part of my difficulties with the squat is a fear of falling over or something.

1. Walk 3 mins / run 6 mins / walk 3 mins / run 6 mins @ 0.5% incline / cool down 4 mins (Treadmill -- added the incline 1 workout ago!) 2. Tricep pull-downs, 2x10 @ 25 lbs (Bowflex) 3. Sit ups, 3x10 (added the 3rd set today!) 4. Push ups, 2x10 5. Bicep curls, 2x10 @25 lbs (Bowflex standing up because I'm short)
Been doing this routine every other day for about 3 weeks now :)

I will do a "short" run today - about 6 km - with intervals. I'm going to cut back on my longer runs in general and focus on weight training and building muscle for a while.

Yesterday: 3 mile walk during the day, 10 minutes on elliptical to warm up for 75 minutes of crazy-sweaty vinyasa yoga. I finally found an awesome yoga class at a branch of my gym in Northern VA!

Love Child wrote: I will do a "short" run today - about 6 km - with intervals. Ok, this was the hardest workout ever in my running career. That I remember anyway. I wanted to die. I did intervals of 200 meters easy running, then 200 meters sprint, and repeated that for 3 km, then 3 minutes rest, and then another 3 km. My lungs were about to explode. Will definitely continue with this interval running thing.

edit: to be clear, my job is like 99% not manual labor but I had to fix the tear bar on the paper table today and it involved like 30 mins straight if upside-down wrench using, blergh.

An hour of strength with the trainer yesterday. He also told me that he thinks I should drop Tuesday Zumba for a more intense class that day. I'm unsure.

I was initially going to run today, but when I woke up I felt so sore after my gym sessions on thursday and yesterday, so I just took a long and easy walk. Saving my energy for leg day tomorrow.
