I just got home from work (almost 10 p.m.), so I'm skipping tonight's workout. I'm just not in the mood.

What do you guys do if you skip a workout? Do you just forget that workout or do you push the remaining workouts back a day so you can do the previous day's workout (then remove the day of rest)?

Does that question make sense? My brain is so mushy right now.

oh yeah, I really don't get that. Is it meant to be baseball? I just kinda copy the general motion, but figure because it's 'bonus' then at least having a go is better than nothing haha

we had to do this once [slept in till 5:20 oh no!] so did that workout the next day and skipped the stretch/rest day. I'd much rather do it this way than miss out that workout altogether.
Or if you want to you can still keep your rest/stretch day and just run a day over.

[if that made any sense!!]

Hello everyone,

I'm just sayin' hi. It's my first day here on PPK. Thanks Appifanie for telling me about it -- she found me wandering lost in the carnivorous and occasionally vegetarian woods of P90X. I'm in week 19 now (ugh) of P90X -- 7th week of my second full round. Anyway I was browsing the boards over there a few days ago and found -- gads -- a vegan thread started by our friend. So here I am. This site is way cooler. I made chickpea piccata tonight using the recipe on the front page -- YUMMERS!

I've been really happy with my results on P90X so I'm equally happy to share anything I've learned with folks who are started out or trying to figure out how to make it work on a vegan diet. Not that I'm an expert or anything, but I messed around (and messed up) a bunch and sorta found a groove or something.

I don't recommend drinking Chimay to compensate for the Giant's incredibly frustrating method of play. I'll be doing an extra Cardio X when I wake up tomorrow to make up for that...

DLD

PS: is there a place for clueless folks to figure out how to upload photos, avatars, change things around? Apparently as a newbie I'm a "tofu pup" or something -- that's gotta go...

Welcome! I'm so glad that you've found us! I'm actually really new to the ppk as well. But what I do know, I'll share. To get rid of that tofu pup status, you just gotta keep posting. To change the photos, avatars, all other stuff, go to "User Control Panel" up at the top of the page. On the left, there is a "Overview" and "Profile" - if you click the profile, then you can change your avatar and location.

Ok, I take it back. Garden of Life is NOT tasty. I didn't have any more bananas, so I'm drinking it just mixed with soy milk, and it is not going down easy. I guess it isn't bad, but it isn't good either. It sort of tastes like slightly bitter wheat germ. Amazing what a difference 1/2 a banana makes.

If you try this, blend in some banana!

Molly has been sitting on my glass and having a few beakfuls every day. She just now came to have her share and after one swallow, she started shaking her head to get it all off her beak and hopped off in a big hurry.

Hi DLD! Glad you made it over :)

The "Tofu Pup" thing is a randomly generated subnick that changes as you post more. They're all preset unless you say something wildly awesome or horrible and a mod sets it as your subnick :D Otherwise, kdsaj is right and you can change the rest of your stuff there.

I can do the football stuff and kinda the basketball stuff but the baseball I just kinda get it as close as I can cause I have no idea :D I'm sure I look silly.

I have to run away and make dinner now.

oh, I am really pleased to know it's not just me who doesn't get this.
Probably doesn't help that I've never seen a game of baseball in my life...

We do all our workouts first thing in the morning [around 5am] except for yoga because it's longer and, well, we just don't want to get out of bed at 4:40am on a Monday!
Anyway, because we do that in the evening, I have had to start closing the blinds because one of our neighbours can see into our lounge from one of their windows, and I noticed them watching the first day we were falling over ourselves trying to get into yoga poses.... definitely less fun with an audience!! On our own, I've got no problems looking silly!

Same, this week I missed Yoga because we had new flooring being installed so I just skipped it and will do it today which is meant to be the rest day.

Hey Mands,

Good to see you here.

I haven't figured out the pitching thing either (at the end of Plyo). I just lift one leg up, wave my arms around, and run to the wall and back. It's a nice break before the football hero thing which leaves me completely wiped out at the end. I love Plyo though -- it's my fave workout!

Thanks KDSAJ! I got an avatar up, after resizing it about 50 times to make it so tiny I need glasses to even recognize myself in there. I need to find a better one.

I also need to figure out how to upload a photo into a post when that photo is on my laptop, versus on the web somewhere. Every forum is different. . . .I'll get there...

I stifled a giggle at "wave my arms around" because I agree, it feels like such an un-co move! And I agree, I LOVE Plyo! I feel like doing it today instead of YogaX.

this helps a little - http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/ - resizes just right - 100x140 (or vice versa? i forget suddenly)

and yes! that's exactly how i feel the pitching thing is too

also DLD, one of the things I like about this forum, is they're generally very "anything goes" over here, where as lots of forums like to be in control of everything.

I ordered some new weights, the ones were you can change the weight and add more plus a heart rate monitor that's a watch but it's able to be worn on your chest too and it counts cals, woo!

I'm hoping I'll get them today so I can use them tomorrow during Chest, Shoulders, Tri.

sweet! We've got spinlock weights, is that what you're getting?

They're good, but we have to add 10-15 minutes on to our workout time because of all the little breaks changing weights around between exercises.

My favorite moment in Chest/Shoulders/Tricepts is of course when Tony gets up in Big Phil's face and Phil says "would you get lost" and then Tony shrinks away saying "He's bigger than me." Ha ha ha. Phil is definitely bigger than Tony -- he looks like he snacks on 30lb dumbbells. Munch munch munch. This the same one where during the Karen pot stirrers Phil says his soup is "trouble soup" and Tony gets all bent because Phil had a funnier line.

Have any of you seen the website where folks post their favorite cheesy lines from P90X? It's hysterical. I feel like I know these people, I've heard these lines so many times now. I'm so addicted I actually rented Dreya's movie "The Gymnast" on Netflix a couple months just to see what it was about. My wife read the Netflix jacket when it arrived and said "what is this, it looks like Lesbian soft-core porn" to which I responded, politely, "what's your point?" It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Heavy on the Dreya-abs, and lite on the porn, nothing wrong with that, nope, nothing at all.

Yeah, I pretty much just hop around during that part because I'm afraid I'll trip over my feet and break something.

I can do everything in Shoulders & Arms now except for the last one-armed tricep move at the end of the bonus round! I think I'm going to need some heavier dumbbells really soon.

Yup! I was able pick 'em up yesterday and you're right it does add some time changing weights.

Also, my heart rate monitor didn't count calories, it stayed at zero but it was definitely monitoring my heart rate. I've been through the instruction book 5 times (it's only 6 pages) and I can't find anything :(

Haha, I just did that work out this morning, Phil looks so serious to start off with but by the end he's pretty funny. I want to see that website! I know there's a thread on BB about who annoys people, a lot of people said Dreya, the girl in Back & Biceps and some people said Tony and the dude from Insanity.

That's awesome! And you should get some more, if you can find a set like the one OWW posted it means you won't have to keep buying pairs of weights.

I had to skip last night cause I was working on a project and now I'm supposed to be doing shoulders and arms, but I'm bummed cause I don't get to hang out with my boyfriend tonight. :( I know I'll feel better if I get to working out. What is my motivation here?!?!?

Just kidding.

Cowgirl - What's that they say? You never feel worse after doing a workout? Just after not doing a workout? Something like that. I try to remember it.

I did better at Yoga last night than ever before. I'm glad today is my day off cause I have Halloween prep work to do (trick or treating is tonight here).

I think I need to get some special weights like those too because I'm thinking I need more weights (I already ditched my 3s and got 8s so I have 5s and 8s now).

kittee - 4:1 carbs:protein, about 200 total calories.

What are the chances the store has a pumpkin carving kit? I'm off!

I forgot my discs at home. I did about half hour of some cardio instead even though today would have been yoga. I tried to get some yoga on Netflix but got frustrated.

I hope no one minds me just logging my workouts here with you all.

Appifanie, I'll have to remember that. I've never come home from the gym and said "I wish I hadn't done that!"

I've been buying dumbbells on Craigslist -- there seems to be a never-ending supply from people who are giving up on working out. I did spring for a brand new bench though -- I got tired of trying to make everything work with a rickety old chair. So for my birthday I bought a bench off Amazon that inclines and declines, and also folds up and goes under a bed or in a closet if you need the space. It's a super handy thing to have. But I know not everyone will have the space to set up a room and everything. But if you do, a bench and a bunch of cast iron dumbbells will be a great investment. And a pad to put under them to protect your floor -- I got one at Sports Authority that hooks together like puzzle pieces and provides a springy floor for weights and for moving around, running in place, whatever. I spread all the weights I need on the mat before I start so I can motor during the workout.
