Thanks, that was helpful! Right now I've been doing 8 minutes running, 5 minutes walking, 8 minutes running with a warm up and cool down 5 minute walk. Right now my plan is to step up to 12 minutes running with 2-3 minutes walking in between.

Littly my, I didn't think it would work but it did. I ran very slowly and concentrated on the music instead of the distance. good luck and enjoy!

I nutted up and did W1D1 at the gym today - I've always been to self-conscious to stop and start running at the gym but I decided to go in the ladies only bit at the gym and go for it.

I want to try running again. Right now, I'm working on a daily walk without the dogs. I walk with the dogs but it is a bit too leisurely to prepare me for running so I need something a bit more.

I did W1/D1 this week and then the next day came down with a sore throat, so I'll probably be doing the first day again once I feel better.

So, I took an unintended month off, due to a crazy schedule and then various small injuries.

I went for a run yesterday, thinking that I'd have to take it really easy, so I programmed my C25K app for W3D1, with the short 90 sec and 3 min runs.

As soon as my second foot hit the pavement in the first run section, I knew I hadn't lost any ground. And I ran....wait for it.... for 18 minutes!!!!!

I hope this is inspiring for anyone struggling in the first few weeks. The longest run I had before this was 12 minutes, and even after a whole month of not exercising AT ALL, I could jump up to 18 minutes!

YAY well done.

Tomorrow my boss and I start week 2. I did 2 days last week at the gym and 1 day outside. I don't like running on the treadmill, I get really sore down the sides of my lower legs.

I kept taking long breaks, but jumping back in right where I left off.
Tomorrow I'm doing week 6 day 3. 25 minute run. It's all long, single runs from then on. HOME STRETCH. Feels awesome. Time to start looking for a race.

RUN ON, CHAMPIONS.

yay ilikeapplejuice!

I'm so glad I did the 18 min and am really looking forward to doing the single run stretches from now on. But I forgot to stretch beforehand and my thighs are still angry with me!

I'm going to do this, I decided. I hate that I can't run. 7 years ago I ran a half marathon, and since then I've had too many groin problems and foot problems to run. But I want to. I figure starting with this program will be a good way to ease into it, as long as I take it slowly. Maybe I'll do it at half the pace, like do the first week 2x and stuff like that, lest I push too hard. I wish my body didn't ache.

I just finished week 2. I'm a bit scared of running 3 minutes next week, but I feel like I can do it!

Yup. Time to do this again! I made it nearly all the way through a couple of years ago and then just got distracted with strength training, yoga, and aerials and barely do any cardio at all anymore (just occasional spinning or elliptical). So I thought I was in pretty good shape since I've gotten a lot more toned from all the other stuff I do and I can do a bunch of pushups and lift more weight than nearly all the girls in Body Pump class.

But...today I did a 5K mud run/obstacle course (with my sister who just ran a half marathon last weekend) and it was just BAD. I made it maybe 10 minutes at a moderate run before I was totally out of breath and had to walk and then I couldn't really run for more than 5 minutes at a time. It didn't help that it was really humid and there was sticky mud and hills and walls to climb (I kicked asparagus with the climbing parts which was my only consolation), but still...

Started week 3 this morning. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but my breathing sucks!

Supposed to start week 4 this morning but my boss is ill so I'm gonna have to go do it at the gym instead, I don't want to stop again.

I did it. It hurt but I got through it, so happy. Not looking forward to day 2 tomorrow though, haha.

Woohoo! I didn't do C25K, per se, but I did start out with a walk/run combo. Six minutes at a time running was my turning point; once I got there it seemed like such a small leap to running continuously. You're getting so close!

OMG - I start week 5 today and I've just seen that on day 2 I go from running 3 lots of 5 mins today to 8 min jogs. OK minor panic. But on day 3 I have to jog for 20 minutes with no walking!! I don't know if I'm going to be able do it!!
