Thanks! I would've never thought of that! I did week 3 day 2 yesterday, and it went ok. But that really takes the pressure off, knowing that I can repeat a week. That way I won't get discouraged and quit.

I said to myself every week if I need to repeat a week I would and wouldn't beat myself up about it.

I didn't end up repeating any weeks, although I might have to repeat week 8 before I do the final week as I've had a week off. I'm going to go for week 9 though and hope I get through it on Monday.

I attempted to start week 9 last night but I was really struggling right from the first minute! I got to 25 minutes and couldn't breathe. I just coudln't do anymore. That's what having a week off does to me!! I ran a couple more minutes but had to stop again, so did about 27 mins in total instead of the 30 I was meant to do. I was pretty pissed about it last night, felt a bit of a FAIL.

Ah well. I will try again tomorrow.

Ok that's a really good incentive for me to not take a week off. I haven't done my first one for this week (week 4) yet, so I'll be doing them closer together than I'd like.

One run left!!

I was a bit intimidated as I had to run in the open part of the gym where the fitties are - all 4 treadmills in the sectioned-off ladies only bit were busy! Eeek. And I really struggled last night. I was saying to myself "just do 20 minutes.... and that's ok" But anyway, I got to 20 minutes and thought come on Sal, you can do it!! hahaha. I was huffing and puffing like crazy by the end of it.

My issue is still the same though, when I finish on Thursday I will have finished the plan, but I won't be running 5k! I only did 3.5k last night according to the treadmill (I ran slower than I normally do because I was struggling!) But even so, I'm probably just about running 4k on a good day! So once I finish the plan I'm still gonna have to keep building up my time till I can do 5k.

I think I need to get off the treadmill and do some outside runs.

I finished!!! :0) SQUEE!

I only run 4k in the half hour. So over the next few runs I'm adding a few minutes at a time on until I'm running 5k and then I'm taking it out of the gym and outside in the new year.

Okay. I've decided I need to actually do a program, because just going for a (very) short run a few times a week isn't doing much for me. Congrats, baps!

Thanks. And this programme is really good! If you're already running some you'll probably find the first weeks really easy! :)

I haven't run since August so will be restarting the program next week. (I'm going to ease myself back into going to the gym by going swimming a couple of times first)

we just started week 2 yesterday. I took Sprog and she likes it too. We did make the mistake of going to the park after work, which was INSANE, as it's packed with every person who has made resolutions.
ETA: we are using the Chubby Jones version, which is so much better for me than the old one, which I used last time around. I really, really like her.

After a few failed attempts at this over the years, and many months since I've ran at all, starting today with week one, day one. I intend to see it through this time and run at a 5K event in March.

we did week 3 version 3 today. it's great! (i still hate it)
Sprog is no longer interested in running, which is just fine, but she rides her bike or her scooter, and dopey dog runs with me.

How are the other C25kers???? Is it just me?

well, i will be repeating another week of week 4. for some reason i just can't seem to get my shiitake together. It's OK though, I think about where I was even a few months ago and I know *for sure* i am stronger now, and i feel like i'm losing a few inches here and there, and forget about it compared to where i was even 6 months ago (when i swore if i got my knee function back i would start running again, because the chances seemed just so remote after my injury).

something i've learned, if it helps anyone else who's struggling (and I KNOW i can do this, it's just such a ridiculous mindfork that i'm letting myself think i can't, but i'm working on changing it....) is that i was using one podcast, and tried out a few more.
The one that is 5k 101, i think, it just sort of neutral zombie electronica, which is good for me. Chubby Jones is good for me too, as I almost never know the music she uses. I am one of these people who thinks too much and when i know the music start thinking "omg we haven't even hit the first chorus its so long i am going to die i can't do this anymore" so I sort of need stuff I don't know.
So that was good, except they use a slightly different format (5 sets of 4min with 60sec walk between) compared to CJ (3min, 5 min 2x with 90sec walk between) and i was a little caught off guard. But I think I did better today- i am ^almost^ there but need a few more runs.
For tomorrow, I downloaded ANOTHER C25k and I am SOOOO EXCITED to run with it- it is Iroquois social chanting, and has a bit of a positive message to it, def my kind of thing (I am not Iroquois, not even enough native blood to be officially part of my own heritage group, but anything that is officially pro-first peoples and positive to boot is a good, good thing.)

So, if you're stuck on a week, and like the podcasts, try a different one. It might be enough to get you unstuck. And if someone else has to repeat an entire week, i'm here to say-- it ain't just you. keep it up.

I did it today, and I ROCKED IT. I finally went to a gym because I realized there are so many variables with running (kids dog weather parking worries about getting mugged and falling on rocks etc etc ) and it was AMAZING to run in a gym. I am shocked.

Also, the iroquois stuff is awesome too.

YAY torque!! I'm technically repeating the last couple of weeks I guess as I didn't run over christmas so I need to get back up to 5k. I am running the race for life on 16 June, signed up officially today! Excited.

I found the podcasts were no good for me, as I hated all the music. So I downloaded the android app and just ran that while listening to my own music. It's free on android / iPhone. I run in the gym too, planning to start running outside in about march when the weather's better.

i did my second week of week 4, and moved to week 5, and wondered why the runs were so easy compared to what i keep hearing online. erm, it's because instead of doing week 5 day 2 i'm doing version two. took me three runs to figure that out. Big jumps in week 5, but i am doing OK. hottest week we've had in years here, and i am SUPER glad i sprung for the gym.

I'm starting this in a couple months. Maybe sooner if I buy a treadmill. It's too risky for me to run outside right now. Too many ice patches.

To get ready I've been walking during my lunch 5 times a week. I walk 5 miles during my lunch hour which is pretty kick asparagus. The first week of it SUCKED but I feel great now 3 weeks later.

Glad there is a thread here! I'll be checking in once I get started.

Just got done with Day one of week one. That was a lot harder then I thought it was going to be.

Sure hope this gets easier with time.

All right!
I had a bit of a lurch the other day when I realized it is a 9 week program, not an 11 week program. WOW!
I just did wk 6 day 2 yesterday, today was too hot to run outside and the gym is closed til Wednesday, but tomorrow early AM i will go to the park before it gets too hot.
I've been logging my C25k workouts on Fitocracy, i am not sure if it's open to the public or not (i think that my group still has invite codes if you're interested and its not open yet), there is a C25k group there and it's a nice, positive, vegan-friendly place to record your workouts and progress.

Did wk1 day 2 today. It was a lot easier on the lungs and legs. It wasn't the best though since I forgot sweat pants and we had an ice storm yesterday. I ran in jeans during lunch and had to be very careful of ice.

Crikey! Be careful! Running on ice is one of my nightmares, literally. (i busted my knee on a wet floor and i have so many slip-and-fall dreams about wet floors, icy floors, soapy floors....)
