I had a bunch of bob's gluten free oats yesterday (blame Dreena's banana oat bundles) and today I'm getting the spots on my feet that I was getting a lot more frequently when I was eating gluten. Do any of you have problems with gf oats?

I know that if I eat regular oats, I don't feel so good. I have bought a bag of Bob's steel cut oats but I am yet to try them in anything.

i eat them every morning for breakfast without any problems, i think. but it could be a level of sensitivity thing, or maybe you ate something else?

oats contain a protein called avenin that some folks with celiac disease are also sensitive too. i know you don't have celiac, but maybe it's something that bugs you in both grains?

wiki wrote:
Oats lack many of the prolamines found in wheat; however, oats do contain avenin. Avenin is a prolamine that is toxic to the intestinal mucosa of avenin-sensitive individuals, and can trigger a reaction in these coeliacs.

i tested negative for celiac with the blood test and my allergist said that he could do an intestinal biopsy but that if not eating gluten made me feel better than to just not eat gluten and I liked that plan. :) I've been single parenting it and surgery doesn't fit into that well.
