Anyone have a GF apple pie crust they adore? I've been vegan for 11 years and have been dating a GF person for 2, yet I've never made a pie! I've made all kinds of yummy GF things--muffins, cookies, "cheese"cake, etc.--but not a pie!

The sorghum teff pie crust recipe in Laurie Sadowski's Allergy Free Cook Makes Pies and Desserts was a dream to work with.

I've tried many different crusts, but the one I consistently come back to is Dreena Burton's gluten-free pie crust from LTEV. It's very forgiving; you can use cornstarch if you don't have arrowroot and millet flour makes a fine sub. for the sorghum. I've also used Spectrum shortening in place of the coconut oil on occasion and that's fine too (just chill a bit longer before rolling it out).

I was VERY impressed with Bob's Red Mill GF pie crust - made with chilled vegetable shortening and earth balance, cut in using a few pulses of the food processor as directed on the pkg.

The only one I've been brave enough to try thus far (recently became GF) was Bob's Red Mill GF pie crust and it was great. It was a bit fragile but easy enough to work with and tasted great.
