We went to Asheville, NC this past weekend for no particular reason. But my main objective was food! I think I gained probably 10 pounds, but it was worth it.
Saturday we had lunch at Sunny Point Café. I’ve been there 3 times and ordered the same thing every time because it is amazing! The best pancakes I’ve ever had.
Organic Orange Scented Gluten Free Cornmeal Hot Cakes

Then we stopped by the French Broad Chocolate Lounge. I ordered Cold Sipping Chocolate with Ginger. It’s coconut milk and chocolate and just enough ginger. It’s so thick and creamy. Delicious.

And I got some vegan chocolates to take home.
fig & port; strawberry balsamic; theros, orange & fennel; thai

And, my favorite restaurant: The Laughing Seed Café. We actually went here three times over the three days we were there: dinner, brunch & lunch. Here’s a collection of what my parents and I had.
Saturday Dinner:
Raw Spinach-Pesto Manicotti (this was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted) - zucchini noodles stuffed with sunflower-spinach pesto, cashew ricotta, and fresh basil over sun dried tomato marinara.

Bourbon-Pecan Seitan - pecan crusted seitan with a bourbon-shallot pan sauce, potato and herb gratin, and marinated green beans

Ginseng Lemon Drop - citron vodka, lemon juice, sugar, herbs

Sunday Brunch:
Sooner Sunday Bowl creamy grits, house seitan sausage, tofu scramble, sautéed spinach, Yukons, guacamole spike, and vegan gravy

Bloody Mary

Carrot-Beet-Ginger Juice

Then we got some ice cream at The Hop. It was the best vegan ice cream I’ve had, tasted just like the real thing!
Mint Chocolate Swirl Soy Milk Ice Cream & Pumpkin Soy Milk Ice Cream

For dinner Sunday we had planned to eat at a restaurant that we found out had closed. So, we ended up at The Green Sage Café which was perfect. We were so full from brunch and ice cream that we didn’t want much. I ordered a cup of soup and ½ wrap.
Green Lentil Vegetable Soup

Veggie Hummus Wrap - Spinach Wrap with Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber, Red Onion, Sprouts
And for lunch the last day, we went back to the Laughing Seed Café.
Greener Warrior – kale, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon.

Dragon Plate - cashew-beet-carrot pate, sea vegetable salad, sprouted lentils, peas, mung beans, and pickled vegetables, with raw salad vegetables on a bed of organic mixed greens & mango lime vinaigrette

Neo Falafel Pita - Sprouted chickpea falafel, pickled beets with mint, organic spring mix, tomato, cucumber, and lemon-tahini sauce wrapped in warm pita.

Sloppy Jo - Sweet and tangy tofu barbecue with lettuce, carrots, cabbage, sprouts, and tahini mustard saucese on a whole wheat bun.

Mexican Chocolate Poundcake

Pineapple Galette with Basil Syrup

In conclusion, the vegan food in Asheville is absolutely amazing! :D
