My dad and I have birthdays within days of each other, so I made both his cake and mine, and will be posting mine once it is finished this weekend for my birthday on Sunday. Here is the one I made for him, as per his request. He usually asks for cinnamon crumb cake, but this time he wanted a chocolate cake, which I made with coffee to bring out the flavor. This is the VCTOTW buttercream and ganache, following the suggestions of everyone in the thread in the Kitchen. Let's hope it's good! Those are cake crumbs on top, not a lumpy ganache, which I was able to avoid thanks to your advice!

guys, they loved the cake! weeeeeeee!

it was seriously one of the best cakes i've ever made. i don't always think this, but i really thought it was like the italian bakery cakes i grew up eating. omnomnom. plus my dad loved it!
