That gratin sounds great, and I love that you wrapped a portobello in puff pastry! Mmm.

I make the mushroom thing every year, it's really easy, festive, naturally makes a (rather large) individual serving. Perfect if I'm going to an omni's house and want a main dish that's just my size. Plus it tastes great with cranberry sauce, which is essential in my opinion. It's basically just a portabello mushroom cap, a layer of some kind of protein, this year it was slices of mushroom field roast, stuffing, with a square of puff pastry over the top. Bake at 400 until the puff pastry is looking done.

Beautiful food, and what a gorgeous gravy boat.

I love that. I'm going to call them puff mushrooms from now on. So much more fetching than "those stuffed mushrooms things I make with the puff pastry on top" which is what I generally call them.

Thank you! The mister just found it for me the week before Thanksgiving in an antique shop. I think he's just trying to encourage me to make gravy more often. It's a solid tactic.
