My Birthday Party!!! It's a BOYYYYYYYYYYY!**
Dilllll Chip-Dip (I am crazy about chips and dip); PICKLES! (I made the cukes, beets, garlic and lemon rind) (yes, pickled lemon rind); mustard greens & carrots & pickled apricot (yes, pickled apricot); iced tea (english breakfast, fresh lavender & lemon).
Okay... y'all ready to see the cake I made?...
Lemon genoise cake! With real vanilla bean (like a bad-ass) and an un-godly amount of lemon zest (double what the recipe called for) (I told you I can't follow a recipe). Whipped coconut cream with fresh lavender to top.
I'm SO PROUD of myself you guys. Look at the inside.
The thing with this cake is... the idea for it pretty much came to me like an epiphany about two weeks ago. I didn't even know I wanted cake, and I don't really like baking all that much. But I just... all of a sudden this fully realized vision of this cake popped in my head, fully formed, pansies and all. I kind of feel like I completed some mission laid out for me by my ancestors or something. I'm very pleased.†
