So last Saturday I took a Vegan Block Party cooking class from Adam Sobel, the founder of the Cinnamon Snail. It was so much fun and the food was insanely delicious! And not surprisingly, Adam was super awesome and a great teacher. He said he won't be teaching much in the fall or winter since their cookbook (!!) is going to be coming out soon, but possibly next spring or summer.

Menu was maple BBQ tempeh with beer-battered pickles and roasted garlic cabbage slaw, chickpea crab cakes with lemon dijon tarter sauce, korean bbq seitan tacos, and honeydew mint aqua fresca.

Cooking the chickpea cakes, which turned out to be my surprise favorite dish:

And finally, my plate before I polished everything off.

yes! I forget when exactly it's coming out, but it's not too far off.

If the recipes we used in class are any indication, this will be a great cookbook - tasty food that (mostly) uses easy-to-find ingredients and is (mostly) simple to prepare. The only thing we made that I wouldn't make at home were the fried pickles, but that's only because i avoid frying stuff in my apartment .

Omg. Cinnamon Snail was one of my surprise favorite meals in NYC last month. I'm dying for this cookbook. I hope the recipe for the creole tofu is in there!

Yum! Can't wait for that cookbook. Their doughnuts are mind-blowingly delicious!
