Jules and I returned last week from great 5-day trip to the Boston area. I spent my college years there (2000-2004) prior to moving to Portland, and my, how things have changed...aka so much more (and tastier! and fresher!) vegan foodz since my last visit in 2008 or '09. And shockingly since the past decade and a half. I'm impressed! I had actually warned Jules to lower her expectations (blah blah, we're spoiled in the NW), and with the exception of a mishap at VG on our first night and my wife biting into freaking egg yolk, it was all so much fun.

Speaking of, we flew in as the snowstorm started and that was a blast! With the time difference, we were able to make it to Veggie Galaxy for dinner:

Who else remembers when Buddha's was upstairs (circa 2000)? It was my fond, first vegetarian restaurant experience.

It's all about the first two bites of no name, and then the glory of leftovers...

FOMU malted (!!) chocolate chip cookie dough

Coconut based ice cream!!!!!!!! So happy. Most of the flavors are coconut-based, which is freaking refreshing for those of us who have to avoid treenuts.

Okay, my fave slice of pie eva? This place instantly reminds me of Veg City Diner of old NYC days, but, better food.

Having a vegan cafe in a yoga studio usually does not mean such dang comfort food! Rewind 15 years and I'd be eating this for breakfast on the way to class/work and not falafel.

dude, if this was around when I lived in davis square...well, I would have eaten tacos

Gorgeous! You guys really tore it up. I LOVE Amsterdam Falafel. I hope we get one here in the Bay Area.
