I'm dissapointed that it looks like its all thin crust with pizzas like Chili Mac Pizza & Barbeque Pizza. I would rather have a book of all sorts of different pizzas like Chicago, Detroit, Italian, focaccia, grilled etc. I love Vegan Diner so I was super looking forward to this one! Hopefully there is more to it than toppings.

It's kind of awesome. It's got some different crusts (the gluten free is the yummiest gf crust I've had!) and it has different "meats" to make for toppings and different sauces and combos.

So, it's not all GF? I love Vegan Diner, so I'm very tempted by this, but not if it's GF. Sorry, GF folks.

I wonder if they're all using some kind of cheese, or if there are some inventive toppings that don't require a cheesy component? If it's all "Grab a packet of Daiya" I'd be disappointed. Firstly, because you can't buy it here, but also, I love creative toppings that don't rely on cheese. I'd expect in a book devoted to pizza that there'd be a lot of diversity regarding both bases and toppings??

I have no idea, but I think Julie would definitely include some cheese recipes, because her cheeses are awesome, and she is a creative and inventive chef! Pizza isn't the most exciting thing to me on the planet (I KNOW), but Vegan Diner is amazing and I think I'll definitely be checking this out. I didn't hear anything about it being GF.

It's not gf. She mentioned somewhere that she ate a lot of gluten while she was testing even though it made her feel like crepe.

This looks amazing! I'll be asking my local independent bookshop to order me in a copy.

Amazon is still saying it will be available on Sept. 3, and that's where I pre-ordered mine. I hope they release early too!

I'm interested, but I was also hoping there would be more of a variety, like LazySmurf mentioned. I feel like I can figure out topping combinations on my own.

I can't imagine that there won't be some really interesting stuff in there. I trust Julie to put together a book with really creative stuff.

agreed, i really like vegan diner, so i trusted that i could buy this book sight unseen and also love it. plus college football season is about to start and i thought this would be a great cookbook. i'd love to try a new pizza every weekend!

admittedly, the only thing i miss from my pre-vegan days is pizza, so i was pretty much sold on julie's new cookbook ;) bn.com says they plan to ship my book out to me today so i'm psyched!

plus i did some googling and came up with some yummy photo/review stuff....

I'm interested but based on those pictures, that looks like a lot of Daiya in use as well as the evilcyclist blog mentioning that the cheese is store bought. I'm guessing that isn't the case for every pizza? But I'd personally hold off to see how much reliance on Daiya there is prior to purchasing.

one of them mentioned she has cheese recipes in there, too, so I'm guessing she uses daiya in the more traditional pizzas, but hopefully the cheese recipes she has can work for everything.

Yeah, that'd be good. I really like her stuff overall and pizza (!).

i'm not a huge fan of daiya, and i do recall a PPKer (perhaps a recipe tester?) telling me that there is a cashew-free cheese recipe in julie's pizza book :) also, i really do like isa's tofu ricotta (and so does my hubby), so i figure if i need "cheese" i can just use that along with julie's recipes.

i'll definitely report back on the cheese issue once this book arrives!

Book Depository is in the process of shipping my pre-order. I never thought about cheeses when I ordered, Daiya dosen't exist in my corner of the globe. What commercial vegan cheeses do are hard to find.

We'll see when the book gets here, I'm learning with North American authored books to either make stuff myself (like unsweetend applesauce) or go without (commercial cheeses and frozen concentrates).

I had a look at all these except flickr, my browser is being difficult with that one. The pictures on the first link looked amazing, but I think the 3rd link was by the reviewer in France? I noticed they talked a lot about the use of commercial products and how they felt the target audience for the book was probably American. I'm now excited but super apprehensive.

Edi to add: Just tried changing to explorer and still can't get flickr to open. At all, not even just the main page.

I can't decide on this one, I don't really make pizza that often but I do like Vegan Diner so I might just get it anyway. Agree with hoping there aren't too many commercial products in it.
