Urban Vegan: Gobhi Aloo, Cauliflower-Chickpea Tagine and the Modular Pakistani Kima (though I believe I used less curry powder since mine's pretty potent) are all really good. I also enjoyed the roasted beets with wasabi dressing and the Cran-Apple Oatmeal (but I make it with regular rolled oats) is a breakfast favourite.

Bad lava, bad! I cheated on this thread and sort of bought Vegan Substitutions at the Borders sale.

Oops.

But it was on sale. You had to buy it.

Well, actually it wasn't much cheaper than the normal price on Amazon, so that's kind of a lousy excuse.

I have thirty vegan cookbooks so far. Is that enough to qualify for an addiction? If not, any recommendations what else I should get?

Same here! I see nothing wrong with it. But my husband always rolls his eyes when I bring home a new one. I'm not really attempting to hold back. I have pre-ordered several books that aren't even out yet.

Borders is finally at 50% off (minimum) on things, which I guess officially makes it cheaper than Amazon now? I was surprised to see how much had already been cleaned out last week, but if they had Vegan Diner I'd be back today. I can't think of anything they had that I really wanted, so I'm trying to stay away!

I just ordered a few more cookbooks. I think this brings me to 70 or so. I actually don't feel like I have a problem, but, like ShannonLea mentioned, I know I'll get the husband eye-roll when this new bunch arrives. (I actually considered having the books sent to my work so that my husband wouldn't find out, so maybe I do have a problem. Hmm...)

You guys! This thread has RULES.

This is to support NOT buying cookbooks. Go start a cookbook buying thread.

I can't afford to be addicted to cookbooks right now. That's why I started this thread.

Seriously. Am I the only one not buying cookbooks here? Honestly it's not taking much willpower, though. I barely have the time and energy to cook at all, let alone try a bunch of new recipes.

Google "bookstore closing" and become indignant about the number of communities without a local bookstore because people enter, look at books and then order them on Amazon using their smartphones while in the store.

hmm re: swapping, I would kinda like a copy of Vegan Lunchbox but I don't know what to offer for it. I've been very good about only having 1 shelf full of vegan cookbooks (+ another that has a couple vegetarian and several Indian cookbooks I was given) so I feel like I have to get rid of a book or 2 before I buy more!

I'm so screwed. The bookstore around the corner from my house is giving you a free vegan doughnut and a cup of coffee when you buy a book on Sundays.

The plan was to make 5 recipes from every cookbook I have, but haven't used yet, before I buy another. But (need I say it?) Vegan Pie in The Sky must be bought NOW!

I have a $100 Amazon gift card, so I'm outta here (for now).

Help!!!

I just bought Low Cal Vegan Comfort Food AND the Vegan Grilling book...but I feel like the floodgates are about to open in the next few months. Off the top of my head:

Hannah K's ice cream book
Vegan Eats World
Forks Over Knives Cookbook
Artisan Vegan Cheese
Cookin' Crunk
Tami Noys and Celine Steen's Sandwich book

Isa & Terry books are not optional, ever (even if Isa just authors a section). And the Ice Cream? Yes, please. I'm looking forward to the Cheese book so much I don't know what to do with myself, and AVK is one of my favorites, how can I not get her followup?

Help me, people, this is going to get ugly fast if someone doesn't talk me down. If that's even possible at this point.

I can't keep up with cookbooks at all anymore. By the time I have saved up to buy one, five more great looking ones have been published. I want them all, and I can't afford any! I remember when I went vegan 8 1/2 years ago and I just assumed that in a few years I would own every vegan cookbook ever. Silly me.
