I haven't made those tempeh cakes yet to know how all of the flavors would work out, but could you maybe do some sort of a cocktail sauce? Since it's tomato and horseradish based, I would think it would keep okay at room temperature.

Maybe the white bean aioli from V'con? I love that stuff on everything.

I tried the scrambled tortillas. I had to use silken firm tofu and I don't like jalepenos, so I used a mix of regular peppers. I also took a short cut and didn't make the sauce, but used salsa and guacamole. But the base of the tortillas, spices, potatoes and veggies is amazing.

Best ever: omelette filled with wilted spinach leaves, sliced Yves ham, covered in cheesy sauce, with fried potatoes on the side.
Amazing. I never do the sauce/potatoes myself, but my mom offered to cook anything I wanted. Yum!

I made the broccoli quiche and it was perfect! I have never made quiche before, so I set my expectations pretty low. :) I absolutely LOVE it and will be making it again for sure. I'm a late-comer to this book, and it's the first recipe that I tried.

Just made the banana flapjacks. Tasted awesome, but a little too goopy. I'm not sure if that's the banana talking, or that my cast iron was too hot and they started burning before they cooked all the way through. Either way, loved. it. Also: discovered that my maple syrup has MOLD IN IT?! Nowhere on the container does it have 1. an expiration date 2. wording about refrigeration. I feel like a fool. ;_; VB is probably my least cooked from Isa book. Need to get on that.

I made the Tofu Bennies today. So good! I kept dipping extra bread in the hollandaise. Definitely not the healthiest thing I've ever done, but it was delicious. I had it on whole wheat English muffins with tempeh bacon, but I really want to try the homefry way next time. Can't wait for breakfast tomorrow!

The omelet recipe specifies to use the refrigerated silken or soft tofu, not the vacuum packed (Mori Nu) shelf stable stuff. Is this just cause Isa doesn't like the taste of the vacuum packed stuff, or is it for texture or structure reasons? I have some Mori Nu in my pantry. I know it tastes different from refrigerated tofu, but I don't have any tofu in my fridge and I don't want to go out. If I use the Mori Nu, will it still work?

Hi - I make the omelets every week :) Love them. Although... I used the mori-nu once and it tasted "off". I also don't know if the recipe says not to use it for textural reasons or for taste. I found the texture fine in my case but again the taste was off so maybe that is why Isa says not to use it? I've never eaten the mori-nu "straight-up" so I really wasn't aware of a huge taste difference but the omelets definitely didn't taste as good. They almost had a sour taste.

Thanks healthyrunner. Based on your experience, I decided to skip it and just made a tofu scramble.

Just made the basic scones. SO YUM. Why did I not double the recipe?!?
Would you be able to use this recipe to make savoury scones - like with Daiya?

I've only made the omelets WITH mori-nu, because I can't find refrigerated silken tofu. I thought they were good, but I don't have anything to compare them to.

The omelets are very realistic, which I realized only after I made one, didn't like it, and remembered I'd never liked egg omelets either.

I am in love with Mom's Morning Casserole. I made it last week and wanted to make it again this week. I know I'll be making this one often.

I want to make the East Coast Coffee Cake for Christmas morning. Would it be safe to just double it? I want to make it in a bundt pan. When I made it before (in a brownie pan) it was pretty small.
