I wanna go to Peppels today to get a raised donut, but Ive been disappointed every time. So greasy and the flavor and texture are off.

I LOVE my doughnut pan!! It isn't time consuming at all. I usually have doughnuts in less than 20 minutes, including the mixing time. I would love to make yeasted doughnuts and fry them, but when I want doughnuts, I want 'em right away!! Chocolate Coconut Doughnuts Cherry Doughnuts

I'm curious what the texture of doughnuts from one of those pans is like, because they always look kind of spongey. Are they like little doughnut-shaped cakes? Or just regular ole cake doughnuts?

Oh, that's a bummer. They sure do look cute, though.
I think I'm going to go out of my way in Chicago to make a stop at Fritz Pastry for doughnuts. Last time I went there I practically bought one of everything. They even had paczki!

Or just regular ole cake doughnuts? I think it depends on the recipe. I've never had a spongy doughnut using my doughnut pan. Since it is a baked cake doughnut, the texture isn't the same as a fried doughnut. But, mine are never cakey like cake either. My doughnut needs are always met. My partner and I eat the whole pan in less than a day-which is what you should do since doughnuts are always best the day they are made!

enjoy life foods has a (rather unvegan, but free of the top 8 allergens) cookbook for free download and it has some donut recipes. they give the tip of adding the baking soda last to keep it from getting too granular. http://enjoylifefoods.com/ebook/
