Anyone gotten "The Tipsy Vegan" yet? The recipes look tasty but I'm wondering if anyone here has tried them, before I get yet another cookbook for our bursting kitchen bookshelf.

It looks fun! I just received a review copy and I'm unsure of what to make first. It's tough because a lot looks good but I'm pretty broke so I can't buy a bunch of booze. Did you buy it? Have you tried anything yet?

I have this book too. I got it for free from a friend -- I have to admit it's not something I would have bought. It seems you need to have a well-stocked liquor cabinet to make anything as all the recipes do include booze, however tiny the quantities.

Oh now, hold up. Cooking with booze? Hello! I don't really drink the stuff, but I love cooking with it.

I was thinking of getting this book, and then buying the tiny bottles of liquor at liquor stores.

Nope, I haven't purchased it, but the NYT printed a couple of recipes for Thanksgiving that look pretty tasty.
We have a ridiculous stash of booze on our fridge and it's all for baking, with the exception of the occasional glass of bourbon. Much of it for VCTOTW recipes, Cooks Illustrated vodka pie crust and pumpkin cake with rum raisin pecan frosting. Seriously, I'm sure people think we're a couple of lushes. But I fear it's mostly sweet booze for desserts, not things that would go well in savory things. So yeah, if I got the book, I imagine it would be all about the little bottles.

Any more word on this book? I found it because of his new grilling book (which I also don't have) and I'm intrigued. I like cooking with alcohol but really don't know how to go about it.

I dunno. I find it pretty dull, and the writing is kind of grating. :( I think the alcohol is just forced into dishes rather than belonging there, and thus nothing so far has really appealed to me.

No one in my library system has ordered it yet so I've not seen it. I made a decision to only buy books that I've checked out from the library several times. If I check it out and never make anything, that means that it will sit on my shelf forever and a day.
