Has anybody tried much from Carolyn Scott-Hamilton's The Healthy Voyager's Global Kitchen? I just wrote a review of it today and am quite excited about it. I did a search on here and didn't see any mention of it.

I "leafed through" on google books and the "UK" section, which was one of the parts I could actually see, seemed a bit lacking. That chapter at least relies heavily on subs without telling you how to make them (breakfast sausages, chicken broth, beef broth). There's no reference to traditional vegetarian fare or the Anglo-Indian dishes mentioned in the intro? Judging by the introduction and index, the chapter on Germany is limited in the same way.

I hadn't noticed that bit about the UK section. It kinda feels like to do the subject matter justice, a cookbook author would need to write an encyclopedia, maybe with the help of many local experts.

Maybe some of the other sections are better. Those are just the ones I looked at because I've lived there and they were visible. The omission of baked beans surprised me a little.

I saw an ad for this book and was just looking at the preview at Amazon. It looks prettier on the inside than the outside, doesn't it? I subscribed to your blog so that I can see how you like the recipes once you get going with them.
One thing I'm wondering about from looking through the parts that Amazon would let me see: the recipes seemed short on vegetables and heavy on fake meat. Of course, I can substitute tofu or tempeh and add veggies, but then I might as well just use a cookbook I already have... So I'm staying tuned to see how you like it!
