How It All Vegan was my first vegan cookbook too! And, I just received The Garden of Vegan for Christmas. So I have a whole bunch more recipes to make.
I love the recipes in these books because they are simple and straight forward. Lets face it, I don't always have hours to spend in the kitchen. Normally I am in need of things I can make in 30 minutes Mon - Fri. And the recipes from these books fit the bill.
The stand out dish from HIAV, for me was the Zucchini Delight. I still make it years later. So simple and the flavor is amazing. I also loved the Granola recipe from HIAV. That stuff is like crack!
I am making the Hungry Man Stew from GOV for New Years Day dinner. Which seems like it is basically a vegan beef stew. I am using Gardein Beefless Tips in it instead of seitan, which I think was suggested.

My favorite recipe from that book is the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie. So gooey and good. Lots of corn syrup though.

i like vegan a go-go because it selects from all of the books, and you can take it on the road. i was highly surprised by the tip-top tofu loaf very nice with the mighty miso gravy
and i love the chocolate pudding upside down cake thingamabob. great cake to make if you want to throw a bunch of shiitake together and walk away. use some soy ice cream to cut the sweetness, though.

The lentil and bran burgers are nommy. I can't remember what they're called, though.
There is a recipe for tangy cheese sauce in there. It was the first recipe I made and it was so bad (like, shudder and throw it in the bin) I emailed her and asked if I'd somehow made it wrong or the recipe was converted badly (I have the UK version).
She was super-adorable, and basically said she hadn't made that recipe in ages and can't remember what it was like, and apologised profusely if it's a dodgy recipe. Yay!

I find most of her recipes dodgy, I am sad to say.

My mom made me a big batch of Sarah's Delicious Chili over the Christmas break, and it was quite delicious. We did add lots more veggies though.

Coconut Curried Veggies from La Dolce Vegan was amazing. I also really liked making chicken balls out of her seitan chicken recipe, and dunk them in plum sauce :3

Jigglypuff wrote: artichoke rotini pasta (now one of my favorite foods!) Yes, I adore this stuff. I often serve it with lemon herb tofu from Dreena Burton's Vive Le Vegan and I'm even willing to make it on a weeknight because it's a quick and delicious meal. Also, one of my favorite snacks is to use her nut roasting methods with one of her everyday spices (I think it's the mix in Garden of Vegan that I always use), a splash of Bragg's and cashews as my nut of choice. I was thinking of trying to make some cute snack bags of these as part of my contribution to whatever upcoming vegan bakesales I'll be cooking for in the future so I could share the love. So yum. I know it's not a big deal--a recipe to roast nuts--but this particular combo is so good with the seasonings and such.

My general rule is look for the recipes that Gerry likes. I like most of the ones that Sarah notes as his favorites.

Barnard's Brown Rice Breakfast. It took me years to try this because it just didn't sound like my thing, but it is SO good. My top 5 breakfast rotation. I usually just add Bragg's or soy sauce to taste and throw in some greens (spinach, chard, or kale). But it's really good and totally hits the spot.
