This book is to be shipping out Feb 15th according to Amazon.ca (I actually pre-ordered mine from book depository. I don't feel like spending 80 bucks on Prime and i can wait to get it - even though I can't wait to get it!)
It's really strange because I was thinking about not getting this RR book, based on some of the recipes she had been posting. I don't really know why I'd add almond butter to soup. (for creaminess. duh. but my mind doesn't work like that). What I wanted to know before I hit "pre-order" was if we would be given combinations for nut butters. I LOVE nut butter. just to schmear on like everything. Crazier combos the better!
And. Robin said yes. :D actually she has a sidebar for 30,000 different combos for PBJs. yes. please. lol

I'm tempted to get the book. I made the Indonesian Satay Sandwiches with Peanut Sauce from Quick-Fix Vegan recently, and the peanut sauce was outstanding. Afterwards, I was figuring out other things I could dump it on. So I'm intrigued by Nut Butter Universe.

I am very very tempted to get this book. I've liked her other books. And I think the 30,000 combos for PBJs just clinched it for me. :D

Robertson's Sweet Potato Spinach Soup Recipe in Quick Fix Vegan, which contains peanut butter, is one of most delicious soups I've ever made.

Gah, this cookbook sounds so amazing but I'm really not sure that I should be finding new ways to incorporate nut butters into my life! Haha. Nut butters are pretty calorie-dense and I'm trying to lose weight.
I'm wondering if there will be some lower calorie recipes in there that incorporate a smaller amount of nut butter or that use it in lieu of other fats/oils so it's can still work in my eating plan.
For those who ordered it, Amazon for the US is saying that it'll be released tomorrow, so if you get it, let us know all about it!

I really, really, really want this book! Wish it had a "look inside" feature. I heard it's an updated, expanded version of her "Peanut Butter Planet"

Yeah. I'm intrigued, but it's $19, very little info anywhere online, including her website, no look inside, and no ebook. I'll have to pass for now.

My mom is awesome when it comes to using up things in her fridge. She's also pretty strict about her sodium intake because she's on a low sodium diet. She stirred tahini and almond butter into a soup once, just to "use up what she's got," and it was so delicious. She does it all the time now.
I know peanut butter is awesome in soup, because of the Vegan Guatita recipe in Viva Vegan. I have this on my wishlist, but I've always been meh about RR's books. The slowcooker book was really lacking in seasonings. I found I had to over season everything more than the recipes called for and I'm not a person that usually does that.
I might have to give it a go, though, given how interesting and new the idea is for me. I need cookbooks with "new to me" stuff in them.

I might be dumb because I really thought that this book was about making nut butters, not using them.
I agree that I think RR underspices things but you can remedy that. I've tried a few of her recipes and I think they are good but need a bit more spice. I might look into this book though.

Amazon has the e-book for $8.99 (weirdly, the paperback doesn't connect to it): http://www.amazon.com/Nut-Butter-Univer ... roduct_top. It has the look inside feature, not sure why the print version doesn't.

I provided the photography for Nut Butter Universe, so if you would like to see what some of the recipes look like, you can check them out here: http://pinterest.com/woozle2012/nut-butter-universe-by-robin-robertson/. I also recipe tested for this book and have to honestly say that Robin never fails to amaze me with her creativity! Among my favorites so far are the Smoke & Spice Almond Hummus, Cranberry Pecan Butter Muffins, Handcrafted Granola Sunflower Bars, Thai-Tofu Vegetable Wraps and the Roasted Nicoise Sald with Cashew Goddess Dressing. The Black Bottom Peanut Butter Freezer Pie was so quick, easy and yummy that I made it for Christmas dessert and wowed all the omnivores! Hope this is helpfull!

Thanks! I got the kindle version. $9 isn't as tough a decision as $19 + shelf space.
Thanks for the info, Lori. Maybe you could suggest to her that she lists more recipes or the table of contents on her website? It's just really hard to tell what this is.

You're not the only one - I actually emailed Robin asking if there were recipes re: making nut butters, and she answered me yes.
book depospitory/amazon.ca has this as "notify me when this is available" which is kind of stinky, because amazon.com has theirs in stock. i hope I don't wait ages.

I think it's probably a beautiful book I'd love to flip through, but I have to be practical.

I was really really happy with my first pass-thru of the book. So many creative ideas I would never have come up with. I can't wait to start making them! I liked the beginning part of the book that explains a lot about the nuts and health benefits of them.

This sounds like a great book! I have like 8 jars of partially used assorted nut butters that I want to use up. I might have to get this!

8? Holy hell.
I'm dreaming of pistachio butter. Too expensive to make though.
I'll try to choose a recipe to make this week.

Yeah.. I have smooth peanut butter, crunchy peanut butter, tahini, cashew, almond, raw almond, almond-hazelnut (best!), and sunflower seed. I have accumulated them over quite a while, and after I've used up about 70% of a jar, I somehow forget it exists at all anymore.
Also, pistachio butter? That would be so amazing! I like the way you think.
