disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from BenBella Books.

I admit I have not read 'The China Study' but that won't prevent me from using The China Study cookbook. It is such a beautiful cookbook! Thick glossy pages, tons of food porn pictures throughout the book, and it is organized so well! Full table of contents with all recipes listed, then each chapter page lists the recipes, one recipe per page, and there's a well organized index! Ah, I'm such a nerd, but I swoon for organizational things like that! The foreward and introduction are quite nice.

Anyway, I'll be doing a full review on my blog and will do my best to try to cook some recipes out this book soon!

There is a great preview on amazon.....

I pre-ordered this on blind faith, I've not read the original book. I'm always on the look out for healthier cookbooks, to counteract all these new dessert books coming out.

Looking forward to the review!

I don't feel this way about cookbooks generally, but, in a book such as this where I'd likely use it most when I want to knock off a couple of pounds, I would have appreciated the inclusion of nutritional information for the recipes. Otherwise, it really does look great!

I was kind of excited about this until I was looking through the preview on Amazon and saw the chart about cholesterol and salt. For some reason it's really annoying me that the chart is saying that my PB&J has cholesterol in it. I guess they're assuming that all bread has eggs/dairy?

I agree, Nicole. That is annoying.

I got this cookbook yesterday, I had pre-ordered it a few months ago. I have to admit I am not really blown away by any of the recipes after reading through it last night. There is nothing new or exciting in there, just the same old mantra of "oil will kill ya, salt will too and stay away from sugar." These kinds of books tend to bring out the anorexic in me.

The food looks pretty dry but probably good for a quick weeknight meal. If I try anything I will let you all know but there was nothing that really jumped out at me. It reminded me of the Happy Herbivore cookbook.

My copy of the CSC is waiting for me at home so I will look through it tonight. I am worried about it being dry and boring so, Bonnie, I may be agreeing with you shortly!

I haven't thoroughly examined the book yet but I did like that the recipes seemed great for weeknight meals. And of course the "whole foods" aspect, there are a handful of tofu recipes, but no seitan or tempeh ones. Although I do consider seitan and tempeh whole foods I suppose. This is a good "healthy" cookbook that doesn't rely on any meat or dairy subs.

My copy has arrived, I haven't had time to read through it, so I had a quick flick and admired the pictures. Pictures are a huge boon in a cook book for me.
