Hi everybody!

I'm new here, but had an idea... what do you think about all of us writing a recipe ebook. The best recipes, at one place.

Sounds interesting?

Cheers ;)

As long as it's only original recipes, it would be nice.

I thought about suggesting that in the past... a PPKompendium?

Or instead of creating an e-book (people have become wary of "self-made" e-books because they can contain viruses or stolen content), we could put it all on a website. That way it would be free and readily accessible to everyone.

I wouldn't mind creating the website. I'd just put up the recipes and pictures people from the forum send me. I'd give the author's PPK user name with each recipe, so each recipe author could be contacted via the forum. I'd give a link to the forum. I wouldn't put content of my own (apart from a couple of my own recipes like everyone else) or do self-promotion. Of course I wouldn't make money from the website, nor would anyone. I'd install a search button and an index dividing the recipes by main meal/side/dessert category. And I'd put a disclaimer that the author of each individual recipe is responsible for possible recipe errors/stolen content.

Downsides would be, the site would have ads (it wouldn't be free otherwise), I wouldn't correct the content (English is my second language after all) so everyone should try to correct her/his own text before sending it, I wouldn't enable comments or contact (reading and filtering comments and messages would take up too much of my time, and of course I could be joined via the forum), and I wouldn't include a link to the authors' Websites (I don't wish to check them to see whether they're dangerous or offensive websites).

Of course I suppose we could just as well put the recipes on a thread from this forum and create an index. But the thread would probably get filled with comments and discussions very fast and it would be harder to find the recipes themselves.

Anyone interested in the website idea? Or would people rather have an ebook?

I think the website sounds great. I used to use Food.com and allrecipes a ton before I went vegan, so I am picturing a website something like that? I don't know the first thing about creating a website, so I'm glad you said you could! I'll keep checking in here to see what develops. It's exciting!

I'm glad you like the idea! I'll wait to see if there are a few other people interested before I get started.

It wouldn't be a huge website like allrecipes of course. For the design I'd choose a template from the web hosting service provider I use for my two websites, it's easy to use and I know my way around it. I'd choose a simple design that should work with cell phones and other such electronic devices too.

We'd need to choose a name before I can start, though. PPKompendium as Gulliver called it? But I suppose there could be a legal problem naming it that way?

what about...

Vegipedia

(a spoof off wikipedia, and it won't just be PPK recipes too).
we can put a * or soemthing on anything we find online, and a <3 on originals. (or vice versa).

We could do that, but I couldn't be the one doing it since I don't know how to create a website in which members put up their own recipes. If I made a website with recipes people send me, it would have to be only favorite original recipes from this forum members, else I would be overwhelmed. Maybe there is someone else who would know how do make a wikipedia-like site and be willing to do it? Also, on such a site we could include links to recipes we find online, but I think it would not be legal to copy them in most cases, even when referring to the source.

I think this is a really neat idea; im definitely interested to see what others want up! Original recipes only, as others have said.

PPpedia. It's great until you say it out loud.

I like the idea of a PDF or an ebook though. As website is fine, but something printable, something covet-able... now that's the true noms.

That's okay! Let's do it anyways. What's with spammers dropping good ideas?

I don't know, but sometimes they'll start with a generic no-link post to lull us into a false sense of security before they come back and try to sell us anal granny porn or a new kitchen.

Maybe this is just the lazy side of me talking, but it seems like it would be easier to post recipes to VegWeb, since it already exists and all.

There are a few quintessential ppk recipes (e.g., esme's sauce, the original baked seitan log by....eek can't remember) and I have trouble finding those sometimes and it would be awesome to have them easy to find in a pdf or a site or something.
