Maya Sozer's cookbook, Easy Vegan Breakfasts and Lunches, comes out this week. Has anyone at the PPK seen any recipes from it yet? The concept of fast and easy breakfasts and lunches sounds good. I would love to hear opinions about it.
I preordered the kindle version, but just returned it. The formatting was adequate for an ebook, but I feel that the book doesn't seem to live up to its title.
The breakfast section has a couple spinach quesadilla/pocket recipes, but is mostly yummy sounding but basic smoothies and banana bread. I have recipes for those things.
The lunch recipes aren't anything I would take for lunch. Most of them either contain rice or are suggested to eat with rice. I don't eat rice often, but when I do, rice reheated in the microwave isn't something I enjoy. A few soups sound very nice. Ditto the couple of burger recipes, but if I want a quick lunch, I'm not making burgers.
The lunch recipes aren't any different than quick dinner recipes and most don't seem easily packable.
I think this is probably a really nice book for somebody--just not what I wanted. There are recipes for making mustard, Popsicles, and ice cream. Those could be a plus for a lot of people, but just goes back to not really being a lazy enough book for me. I don't eat ice cream for lunch on the go.
I'd definitely look at this one before buying to make sure it suits your needs. I was looking for something to get me out of my hummus/veggies and pbj lunch rut.
