Anyone have this? I'm debating whether I need another cupcake book or not and haven't been able to find much info on it... no "Look Inside" feature, no recipes in the Kindle sample, no reviews on Amazon or Goodreads. Would love to hear what you think of it if you have it!

Thanks! It doesn't quite make it as far as the recipe section, either... but the photos are lovely!

From memory (flipped through it in a bookshop) a lot of the icing recipes were vegan cream cheese based and looked very smooth and delectable. I'm not a big fan of the traditional, cloying sweet, grainy (shortening/margarine/icing sugar icings), so this book really appealed to me.

I ordered a copy on-line and will report back once received.

I have this, but haven't made anything yet. It is a beautiful book with pictures for just about all of the cupcakes, which are really quite elegant. He refers to "vegetable cream" a lot, which might seem a bit odd to North American ears, but I'm guessing is just a plant-based cream of whatever variety.

I long ago also ordered his Vegan Delights book (http://www.amazon.com/Vegan-Delights-De ... 1634504577), but Amazon says they are out of stock and no word on when they will get more. There is a kindle version, but the cupcake book is so lovely picture-wise that I want the physical copy of Delights as well!

Here is a list of recipes from the Vegan Cupcakes book:

Oh man - that sounds amazing, and definitely different enough from VCTOTW that it'd be a good investment. Thanks so much for typing all that out!

Nice to see more diversity (in a already diverse vegan cookbook author world). Never heard of Toni before, apparently he is a Spanish born vegan chef.

I ended up ordering this with some store credit I had, and I'm not sure if I'm keeping it or not. It's a gorgeous book, with some really unusual and delicious-sounding recipes - I'm just not sure it's going to work for me personally. I don't feel all that confident that I know which U.S. ingredients to substitute for a lot of the less familiar ones in these recipes (I have a rough idea what "vegetable cream" is, but am clueless about "raspberry sauce" and "cacao cream," for example). A lot of the frosting recipes that are the most interesting to me call for vegan whipping cream, and I don't know of a brand that's not soy-based (my husband's allergic).

There's also a lot of margarine and vegan cream cheese and the like - I don't mind ingredients like that, but I know some people do.

If I were in a mood to get super-adventurous in the kitchen and risk failures, I would be completely stoked about this book - but I'm on a really tight budget and have a disability that limits the amount of time I can be on my feet cooking, so failures tend to lead to weeping. Nobody needs that.

There are some recipes that interest me and don't require substitutions - I haven't decided yet if they interest me enough to keep it though.

Follow-up: After taking a closer look and discovering that some of the recipes seem to be missing steps - or at least I couldn't understand them - I decided to return this. However, because of some weirdness in the way I paid for this order, Amazon is sending me $9 back and letting me keep the book. Which is a pretty good outcome - there are a few recipes I would like to try, and $5-ish seems like a reasonable price for that. I'll update if I make anything!
