this one totally snuck on me! i didn't think it was coming out this soon, and I got it today! and this is amazing because the Homemade Vegan Pantry comes out tomorrow!

it matches the original perfectly, but the pages are glossy! and shiny!! so excited, it has been a while since i had a Joni book (I don't have Going Vegan but I should).

It's out? I seemed to think it was still away a ways I'd pre-ordering was on my to do list. I can't say no to anything Celine and Joni write. I shall have to hop off and order it.

What looks good at first glance?

All-Purpose Cluck-Free Cutlets: I had never done steamed seitan, so I could have done these wrong, but mine just came out really weird. Had a really weird texture on the outside.

All-Purpose Bacon Seasoning: I liked this! I was adding it to popcorn and random dishes.

Seitan Slab o’ Bacon: Tasted good and looked cool! Takes a bit of work. Also plan on freezing a ton!

My giveaway of this book has long since passed, but I thought it might be helpful to share my review -- which includes photos and thoughts on a lot of recipes that I made from this excellent book:

Cottage style cheese? Is it really? I used to love cottage cheese with blueberries and pineapple mixed in. Now that seems so gross to contemplate, but I'd try a good vegan version for sure.

I really like the recipes in this book!
Tonight I made the Bahn Mi Tofu Scramble and it's soooo good and different from any other tofu scram I've made.
Yum!

The soy yogurt from this book is the only plain vegan yogurt I've loved up to now! It's sour as it should be, and without a weird taste. After the first couple batches, though, it separates while in the yogurt maker (not with liquid rising to the surface like oil in a vinaigrette, it's more that is splits in many places inside the little jars). I don't know whether there would be a trick to prevent that.
