Oh ok LFL, I thought maybe you saw something I didn't :) That one sounds like a good idea.

Yes, on the Amazon page for The Vegiterranean Diet it says:
Quote:
A vegan twist on the popular Mediterranean diet plan from dietician, author, Veria network host, and VegNews columnist

The first time I didn't see this but after your post I took a closer look and found this confirmation that it is vegan.

I am wondering if I want to pre-order (or rather flat out buy - it comes out so quickly) Straight from the Earth. this is the one drawback of losing my job - I wont be able to see cookbooks that come out right away now. I do want more "vegetable" based books... this seems like it.

Have you used the Amazon preview feature to look at the index, daisysunshine? I see vegetables but also baked goods, pancakes, hummus etc.

Have you looked at Vedge? Lots of vegetable recipes in that one.

LFL - I did, I wasn't that impressed with Vedge (only really 2, 4 recipes hit me). I should play with the preview feature. :)

Gotcha. I hope Straight from the Earth works for you, or if not, that you find another good vegetable oriented cookbook.

There is Vegan Tacos that sounds cool. It's by Jason Wyrick, anyone knows anything about him? It seems to be his first book on Amazon.

In French, Vegan by Marie Laforêt will be published in April. It will contain more than 500 recipes, about time we had a big vegan cookbook in French instead of booklets of about 40 recipes. Also, it's about the first time I see a French vegan cookbook using the word "vegan" in the title, usually French publishers don't dare do that. I really like that author's recipes, I can generally find the ingredients even though I live on another continent and the results are always good. There will be cheese recipes in it among other things, I am curious to try them.

That's the guy who put out The Vegan Culinary Experience, a rather impressive in scope online vegan magazine. I never really tried any of the recipes, but I did enjoy reading it.

Oh wow, I saw a few I've had my eye on there. Although I'm curious about this paleo vegan by Ellen Jaffe Jones, I have her 2 other vegan books and have never cooked anything from them. I'm a doubter about this new ones top 15 worthyness.

I'm always tempted by Bryant Terry's books, but I just never end up making the recipes when I buy them. I'll probably end up checking out Afro-Vegan anyway.

Afro-Vegan comes out April 8 -- that is just around the corner!

That vegan taco cookbook looks cool too.

I previewed Afro-Vegan and cooked several recipes from it. I don't think it's going to be one that I turn to every day, but I still really enjoyed it. He has such an authorial voice--you can instantly recognize any of his recipes if you see them out in the wild. I really enjoy when a cookbook is more than just a collection of recipes.

Yeah, just when I thought I was all set for cookbooks. Silly, right? I was intrigued by Paleo Vegan, too, but a description mentioned the recipes being mostly veggies, mushrooms, nut and seeds and that beans were for 'cheating.' So, it sounds like they're really buying into a lot of the ideas that paleo folks buy into, and not challenging those ideas. That's too bad, because I can't imagine a vegan diet without beans...oh well.

I'm really looking forward to Terry's Salad Samurai! Oh, and the Taco book!

What! I follow him on twitter and had no idea. I guess I missed something! He's also trying to start up a vegan mac and cheese truck in LA!

Robin Robertson's next cookbook will be Vegan Without Borders.

The "Look inside" feature is now activated for "The Happy Cow Cookbook" and "Vegan Finger Foods". Both books look good. I would have hoped for less American restaurants and more international ones in the Happy Cow Cookbook though. But since they only selected all-vegan restaurants from what I understand, it makes sense.

That looks like it has potential.

It is too bad there aren't more international restaurants, but this explains some odd selections like Buddha Burgers from Israel. Given how many vegan friendly falafel places Israel has to offer, it's odd that they would forgo those in favor of a veggie burger/burrito place (these foods are hardly Israeli specialties). But HappyCow's all-vegan restaurants policy explains it.

I pre-ordered this on Book Depository, I've just double checked it to see if it's a physical copy, it's listed as a hardback.

It would be nice if the reason for the price were that it's full of pictures... for once... According to Amazon's description it has 304 pages and 150 recipes, which would mean about 2 pages per recipe.

Robin Roberston has another cookbook coming out in 2014, called Hot Vegan and featuring spicy recipes. Three cookbooks in one year! She sure is prolific.

Though probably not vegan, The New Feast: Middle Eastern Vegetarian by Lucy Malouf and Greg Malouf also looks interesting.
