Does anyone here own/know of this book? I just got it for my b-day, after having checked it out from the library pretty much constantly for the past few years.

My fav (so far) is the Ethipoian Wat - i love cardamon in spicy dishes.

Never heard of it before, but it looks like a nice book.

Oooh, I have the sequel! I mainly love to look at the food porn (and pretty landscapes), because it calls for a lot of ingredients that are practically impossible to get around here, but such a lovely book!

I find that most grocery stores in areas where people with lots of different cultural backgrounds live have the ingredients for these recipes, and are often cheaper than in the big supermarkets.

I have both of these books and I love them so much! I love that they have recipes from places I've travelled with less-known but still amazing cuisines, like Sri Lanka or Cambodia. They're very well-loved books, most of the curry pages are stuck together. I haven't tried the Ethiopian Wat but I feel like I definitely should.

I've never had any problems finding ingredients, which is pretty rare for me considering that I often have to substitute a lot from books like Veganomicon (we can't get a lot of different kinds of peppers or winter vegetables here). I guess this means that it's great for people with access to more diverse world supermarkets. I can always find everything I need at one of the Indian/Sri Lankan, Vietnamese or Fijian grocery stores near me.

wow! i'd love to have those types of markets near me... I have a Middle Eastern with a big Polish section

I have both books too and love them! The photography is amazing and I love the stories they tell with each different location. My faves are the mkomazi cardamom-mashed sweet potatoes and crunchy salad with lime juice.

me & hubby love it, we have the 1st one and the second. When we went to London we made a pilgrimage to The World Food Cafe
in Neal's Yard, Covent Garden. The photos are lovely. North African and Indian subcontinent recipes are really good.

I have both books but haven't made much from either of them. Probably more from the first. I really should get on that.
