Did anyone test for Joni's upcoming burger book? Thoughts? I'm excited but also curious about how TVP-heavy the recipes are. My stomach doesn't like TVP.

You can check out some of the recipes on her website. I don't know if you have a food processor, but you can always grind some seitan to replace the TVP.

I tested! Is it finally coming out? I loved testing for this book, but it's been so long since testing I don't remember how tvp heavy it was

I know EFCLiz tested for it and raved. Don't know about the tvp amounts.

I made a few burgers and they were really awesome. especially the All American Burger. I think that's what it was called, anyway.

I tested for that book. There are a lot of good recipes in it. I know there are some TVP based ones but she also made effort to do them with lots of different bases. I think the majority don't have it. Good stuff.

I remember loving a Thanksgiving-based burger. And there was a cheese-stuffed one too. I can't wait to get it! I didn't think to hold onto recipes

I make that cheese stuffed one all the time. it is my go to burger. I also liked a split pea soup one and one that had veggies and rice as the base. And others. I think there was a chili one too.

I tested loads for this and several years on still regularly turn to the folder and make burgers from it. The ones I make most often are the BLT burger, the noochy burgers, the Sunday afternoon grillers, the smoky tempeh stuffed burgers and the noodle kugel burgers. Some of the ones I tested are on Joni's blog if you want to try them out. There are definitely lots of non TVP burgers. It's also worth pointing out that there's a good selection of sides, like pasta salads, potatoes and sauces too.
This was the first testing I ever did so it'll always have a special place for me. We had a regular Friday night burger night and it was such fun.

Hey y'all...there are admittedly a lot of TVP burgers in the book, but there are also a lot of non-TVP burgers too...even soy free and gluten free burgers too! If you tested for the book, I tried to contact you, but being so long ago, a lot of people have changed their email addys and what not so, YES! The book is finally coming out, in May of this year, and all of you testers WILL get a copy, as soon as I get them in my hot little hands! Until then feel free to try out some of the recipes on the blog www.justthefood.blogspot.com (recipe links in the right sidebar). Woo-Hoo...burgers!

I have been DYING for this book. I sometimes would send Joni a nagging tweet because I want it so bad.
I'M PSYCHED!

I cannot wait for this book! I really love the burgers I've made from Joni's blog, and I make the burger in 500 vegan recipes all the time. I'm so glad it's coming out soon.

yaaaaay! I've been drooling over the pictures Celine Steen from havecakewilltravel.com took for the book (?), they're on her flickr. Looks awesome, and I love burgers. I will definitely try to get the book, but I will be travelling all summer, and won't have so many oppertunities to cook... Oh well.
