Not to be confused with Kate DeVivo's cookbook of the same name.

This book came out this week and since I like the authors first cookbook, Spork-Fed, enjoyed a cooking class I took with them years ago, and the ebook version is very reasonably priced, I bought it today.

On the upside, I would say that anyone who is looking for quick and simple recipes and doesn't mind using store-bought cheeses and meat substitutes in some of the recipes could do worse. Many recipes are easy to make and look solid. The desserts section is the most creative section IMO.

On the other hand, the cookbook does rely on store-bought products like cheese, chicken strips, tempeh bacon, and soy creamer, among others. Not always-- there are also recipes that use homemade components like carrot bacon, tofu ricotta and walnut chorizo. I just wish there was more of that and less of the store-bought stuff. (I'm watching my salt intake and can't exactly adjust the amount of salt in Gardein products or what have you.)

Has anyone else had a look at this book? Opinions?
