Any ideas of on what to do with extra smokey seitan? I made a loaf for my girlfriend to use in sandwiches, and we've got a bunch left over...

I tried to make the oatmeal raisin cookies but with chocolate chips. I subbed oil for margarine and reduced the sugar and ended up with a crumbly mess. All my fault! So I am turning it into cookie bars and we'll see how they come out of the oven.

I'm glad you admitted it was your fault, because I was about to say OMG WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?! :P

I know! It was stupid! The crumbly mess is super delicious though! I think they'll be okay as bars.

They'll still be lovely. I made a fail batch of cookies once, rolled them up into a log and sliced them.. They were a party hit!!

I blame the shape of the book!
The bars are totally delicious! I am using them (and the banana bread) as thank yous for folks who are helping me move. I think they'll do nicely.

Every time you pass the fridge, saw off a hunk of it, squeeze a splort of ketchup onto it, and eat it with your fingers on your way to the living room. Lather, rinse, repeat.

That is so cute! I ended up dicing a bunch and sauteeing with red jalapenos and throwing over a pizza, so good! I threw the other half in the freezer to remember on another day.

i have the banana chocolate chip loaf in the oven now....... the batter smells and tastes amazing! can't wait for it to come out of the oven!
i didn't feel like cleaning my mini food processor to "blend" the banana so i just used my pasty blender hand tool and it worked just fine :)
time to clean up my mess......

time to clean up my mess...... I usually just mash banana with a fork for banana bread and it always comes out fine! I'd never bust out a food processor just to blend a banana! I should really make that banana bread. Her bread recipes are so good.

the banana bread is fantastic, i was inspired to make it since a couple of people recently posted how yummy it was.
i bought bananas specifically to make this bread and finally today they were perfectly overripe :) i'll definitely make this bread again and may also add in raisins or craisins or blueberries too, with or without the chocolate. it's a beautiful loaf!

Hm. I've made that bread several times, and never had a problem, although I'm not sure if I've ever added raisins. I don't know why that would have happened.

I'm thinking of making a double batch of the dressing for an Easter pot-luck at work. Have any of you doubled this recipe? Will I need to bake it longer?

I still haven't made that smokey seitan, I keep meaning to cause I have read lots of good reviews so I'll have to do that soon. I love the Chilli from this book, so quicky and easy. I made the blueberry lemon loaf the other day and that was pretty good too.

Just made the Mac and cheese with 2 changes. I couldn't find smoked paprika at the grocery store so I use regular and added some liquid smoke, and I added broccoli because I think Mac and cheese could always stand a little broccoli.
It was really thick and creamy and made a decent portion with the broccoli added in. It was also super quick to put together and hubby approved. I'll definitely make that again.
