Wondering about the texture of these. I made for a potluck (the basic recipe - no add ins) and they more resembled muffin tops or super puffy sugar cookies than a round firm drop scone. They spread out a lot, even after I refrigerated the batter for a while. They were tasty regardless, but I am curious about others' experiences. Did I do something wrong, or is this the way they are supposed to be?

I made them a few times, and they were perfect drop scones, and another time they spread out a lot. I think that time I used rice milk, and also half whole wheat pastry flour, which I think sometimes needs less liquid. That's the only thing I can think of!

Mine typically turn out more muffin like (not super dry). I've been slowly cutting the liquid to make them more like traditional scones.

Thanks for the tips! I will try adding a little less liquid and see how that works.

i haven't made the VwaV scones, but the plain ones from VB turned out firm and scone-like for me.
