So thus far the most difficult aspect of my vegetarian to vegan transition has proved to be non-dietary.
I love my Burts Bees Lip Balm.
This is what I want... no need. A vegan lipbalm that keeps my prone-to-dryness kisser soft and lovely and also provides that zing I'm hooked on (come on, some one else knows what the Burts Bees zing is).
Does such a product exist?

The Crazy Rumors peppermint lemongrass is juuust what you need. I can't live without the stuff. The whole line is fantastic, but that one most reminds me of burts bees. http://www.crazyrumors.com

I really like Hurraw, but something about peppermint and lemongrass makes me think it'd feel Ike Burt's Bees on the lips. I've used and liked other Crazy Rumors (candy cane!).

I love, love, love the peppermint Crazy Rumors. If you can get a hold of the holiday pack, they have 3 different peppermint chapsticks in it.

I had the same issue, and went through a few vegan chap stick's before settling on Hurraw. I really like the nighttime one, as well as the tinted blackberry one.

Hurraw's texture was amazing, but made my lips dry out VERY quickly after using it. I was really sad because I wanted to love it. Then I bought this stuff on a whim and I am in love: http://www.sephora.com/intense-therapy-lip-balm-spf-25-P12573A little on the pricey side for lip stuff, but SPF25 and SUPER nice. Vegan and no animal testing. The 'original' is actually peppermint and it's cool and refreshing. Sold!

The Jack Black stuff is really nice. I bought it for my husband to replace Burt's Bees and he likes it a lot. I just bought some Ladybug Jane balm from Vegan Essentials and it's really soft and super moisturizing, and the tasty flavor is super strong. It's replacing my beloved pregan Lipsmackers as my daytime balm. For nighttime I use this stuff from Palmer's. http://www.drugstore.com/palmers-cocoa- ... /qxp206670 It's basically CF vegan Carmex, so it tastes like medicine but keeps the chap away even in Chicago winters.

I do not think the Jack Black balms are vegan they are not listed on the site as vegan or in their company email.
I never used the BB lip balm - however I think the Eco Lips bee free balm is zippy. It is lemony and vibrant. If you want a tingle try the E.L.F. spf balm. It is minty and makes my lips feel really tingly and the formulas is thick!

Crazy Rumours have the best "flavours" in my opinion. I also love Hurraw because they do some great tinted lip balms!

yeah, I contacted Jack Black last year asking if the lip balms are vegan, and for an ingredients list, and they responded Quote: Hi,
Our Lip Balms are cruelty free, but not vegan.
Thank you for your inquiry,
Patricia I wrote back asking again for an actual list of ingredients, so that they could confirm that beeswax is the ingredient that makes the lip balm non-vegan, but they never responded to my several emails after that.

I wonder what ingredient isn't vegan. All I see listed that looks even remotely questionable is the vitamin e. Quote: Ingredients Active Ingredients: Octinoxate 7.5%, Avobenzone 3.0%. Other Ingredients: Natural Mint, Shea Butter (butyrospermum Parkii Fruit), Avocado (Persea Gratissima) Oil, Green Tea (Camellia Sinensis) Leaf Extract, Tocopeheryl Acetate (vitamin E). eta that ingredient list is from the Ulta site, but the ingredients are the same on Sephora.

I know the ingredients do look vegan... I wonder if they are missing something?

yeah that's what I wondered as well. If the ingredients werre on their website I would trust it, but I'm not sure if ingredients listed on third-party sites are trustworthy or not. Their customer service is not very helpful though. I wrote to them a few years ago and they never responded. I just said screw it, but if anyone wants to find out for sure maybe calling them would produce better results?

I haven't found anything I love as much as BB, but I like Crazy Rumors, and for texture, I like Karite (which is stupidly expensive at Whole Foods- $8.59- but nice and thick). The Karite is just vanilla though; I'd kill for a minty one. Mr. Shankly wrote: What would be holding this together/solidifying it besides the shea butter? I have pure shea butter chapstick and it's actually really hard and has to be melted first in order to be used. It's in a squeezy tube, not a solid stick. I bought a few years ago, but I heard from two people that they (sometime recently) added beeswax. I haven't looked at any in person though so haven't seen it for myself.

Oh okay, that makes much more sense then! Maybe the ingredients on Sephora just haven't been updated yet.

Yeah, I heard that from another vegan about two months ago, and then I thought someone on here said it in a different thread. I'm going to check it out the next time I'm at Sephora! 100% Pure has a squeezy, minty balm too, but I've never tried it: http://www.100percentpure.com/ORGANIC-M ... -s/240.htm

I have only tried the clear! I use it under my gloss to protect my lips from the sun!

Hurraw! balms have great colors and flavors, but I found the texture thin and unsatisfying. The thickest, balmiest, most Burt's like balms I've found come frm Soothing Touch. http://www.soothingtouch.com/products-37/lip-balm-74/The Lemon Cardamom, Vanilla Chai, and Unscented flavors are all vegan, and helpfully say "I'M VEGAN!" on the front. Not cheap, but the tubes are much bigger than most at .25 oz
