Thanks, everyone! I've felt really inspired this week, plus I'm super stressed from work and thinking about painting my nails is a good distraction for me.

Baps - thanks for the info, I had no idea how it all worked but my sis also does gel recently made a comment about not wanting her normal polish because she won't really use it any more either

My Shankly - ouch :( Have you got a product you could put on during the week while you're at work - like Nubar Nu Nail? I find it helps keep my nails safe at work.

I looked that up and someone is selling it on Amazon for $110 with free shipping, haha. I was using clear polish but it was just regular polish and it came off really fast. I can have colors on my nails at work but since my nails chip so much from work I've been trying to keep it to clear so that it doesn't look awful in between paint jobs. Is there a good strengthener that's maybe a bit on the cheaper side? Also, what do you guys do for your cuticles and around your fingernails, my skin is in a lot of pain around my nails and is splitting.

i use LUSH ultrabalm on my cuticles every night before bed (and then one of their hand lotions), and do the same routine each morning(-ish) after getting ready for the day. LUSH has an actual cuticle cream, but it's not vegan so i use the ultrabalm instead.

what a friend! glitters make me crazy because removable is a PITA, but AtU is (not surprisingly) one of my faves!

Qtica has a nail strengthener I think (same co. as Zoya). Can't speak to how good it is. The lady who does my eyebrows recommended Duri, but I literally know nothing about it other than her recommendation. I got the Qtica nail oil and love it. I usually use that or Butter London handbag holiday and hand lotion. Really any kind of oil would be good. I think coconut oil would be nice, maybe?

ETA: Duri has keratin. Lame. Glad I didn't get it.

ETA 2: I did by OPI Nail Envy. I felt funny about saying that though, and I know some don't use OPI due to parent company. (It also has formaldehyde resin and camphor.)

Kitteh those DL polishes are so pretty. I have one of hers and my eye on others but they're so expensive!

I really don't like my nails today. I tried to do an ombre and I think it just looks like I tried to do stripes and made a mess. Pretty sure it's coming off tonight! haha

Cuticle oil at least twice a day should help. Ultrabalm is a good idea if you don't have an oil you like.

I love CND's Solar Oil and China Glaze's orange cuticle oil, both lovely. Nubar's cuticle oils are also very nice and not as pricey as Solar Oil.

I've been wearing Or de Russie (black base with gold/chestnut glitter flecks), but just ruined it be opening Amazon plastic bags with my nails because I was too lazy to go get the scissors.

I'm going to wear black and white tomorrow--I just got a great oversize cardigan /sweater coat that is black with a winter white shawl collar. (I love stacked mark downs at the register, but it's annoying to figure out before. $159 sweater ended up being $38 after the 10%, 30%, 25%, blah blah were applied. It's a perfect heavy, cozy cotton. The rooms at work are either boiling or freezing. I fail at Christmas shopping, but I did get what I wanted for my mom after I finished buying crepe for myself).

I can't decide on a polish. I wore red last week, so I'm bored with that.

and Nubar Hot Fuschia on the toes with a rhinestone flower. This colour's a neon so it's lovely and bright but as usual, sucky camera dulls it down.

LOVE that manicure, Baps!! Pedicure is great, too. But man, that manicure is the bee's knees.

Thank you guys for all of your recommendations! It seems another problem may also have been that I was dehydrated and since I've been trying to be more conscious of my water intake, it seems to be getting better. I'm still going to get cuticle oil/Ultrabalm and strengthener though because I need that extra protection.

Ulta has a "buy 2 get 1 free" on Zoya, CG, and Orly. Unfortunately, my store didn't have 3 Zoyas that I wanted, and all 3 have to be from the same brand. But if you have a well-stocked store, it might be worth checking out!

I'm currently wearing OPI Skyfall. It's a dark red with brownish undertones. I like it, but I don't think the name suits it. The name did make me think of Lavawitch though!

wet n wild (teasy peasy I think? the label has worn off) 3 layers so it's solid glitter. this is not a fun look to remove :)
