Hi!

I'm looking for a face mask to replace the Origins Clear Improvement that I used to buy. That one did a good job of clearing out my pores and making my skin look bright and smooth. Anyone know of a similar product? Ideally something I could use about 2-4 times a month, to dislodge blackheads and remove grime from my pores. The Origins has active charcoal and clay, so perhaps a product with similar ingredients?

thanks!

boscia makes a black, peel-off mask that may fit the bill - it's fun to remove too, like pulling dried glue off your hands in elementary school

Try a few tbsp chickpea flour, a bit of soy yogurt, and some lemon juice mixed into a paste.

I just tried this recently and now I'm hooked. My skin definitely looks (and feels) bright and smooth after. I had some sort of weird, random breakout and was desperate to try something, but I'm sensitive to a lot of stuff. This worked wonderfully (and cheaply!).

Regular exfoliation is just as important as a mask to keep your pores clear!

I highly recommend the ancient mud mask by Cocoon Apothecary. They're a small Canadian company, completely vegan, and their products are amazing.

It's old school and not super exciting, but I really love the Queen Helene Mint Julep masque. It has sulfur which does wonders for my skin.

Yep, seconding this. It's pretty cheap too!

Can't speak for the OP's reasons, but Origins is an Estee Lauder brand, which = animal testing. This post goes more into it: http://www.logicalharmony.net/an-update ... z2UMcJvgoz

I'm a huge fan of this new face mask from Tarte. It is clay based, scrubby and wonderful. http://www.sephora.com/amazonian-clay-d ... em-P378214

LUSH has a face mask called Cupcake with a Rhassoul mud base which is pretty excellent at detoxing but without an exfoliating agent you may not see the pore-clearing results you're looking for.

Thank you very much for your suggestions, everyone! Can't wait to try them out.

tofucheez, as dakini already noted Origins is owned by Estee Lauder, I will no longer buy from them. It's discouraging to have to drop a product that you love, so it's great to see that there are a lot of other options out there.

The chickpea flour makes a very effective but gentle exfoliator.

I used to buy all sorts of the expensive Aveda masks, but this homemade one is so much better. And cheap! (I'm not really noted for frugality with beauty products)

Actually, it seems pretty exciting to me! I hope I can find it in store here.

At the other end of the price range, the Tarte product looks great...

Good to know, thanks lavawitch. I just started using baking soda to exfoliate but maybe I will give your recipe a go.

I don't know if you can get REN products in the US, but this is a really great one by REN

I love Alba acnedote products. They recently came out with a fruit acid peel, which makes your skin baby-butt smooth and is "pore purifying". All of their products are amazing.

Asorbic Acid mixed with water makes my skin smooth. I dig the Queen Helene mask to...I got it at Ulta. I even see it at the grocery store!
