I ordered a couch from kmart.com.
Kmart/Sears subcontracts their oversize shipping to Demar
Logistics. They delivered a couch two weeks ago almost forty
minutes outside the timeframe they gave me. Their driver advised
that he was only to leave the box at the first door. Mind you, I live in a mid-rise apartment building and the delivery entrance is out back at a door leading into the sub-basement. This couch turned
out to have signifcant tearing on the underside and arm. I called
Kmart/Sears' 800 number and they arranged to have the damaged
couch replaced. A Demar representative called me last week to
arrange a timeframe for them to make the switch. This morning, the
same driver arrived here unaware that he was to retrieve a damaged
couch. He told me he could not enter my building and left the
replacement couch outside the delivery door. He called Demar about
the damaged couch and was told he could take it, but only if I brought
it to the door. This is a large, 150 pound box and there was no way for
me to get it to the delivery entrance alone. I told the driver that I
understood he was told not to go inside, but I was not going to carry
the box out. The driver left me to carry the replacement box on my
own. Outraged, I called Kmart/Sears and after a 20 minute hold, the
representative told me that he would arrange for Demar to return and
that I should have the damaged couch outside for them to pick up. I
told the representative this was unacceptable, but my complaints fell
on deaf ears. I will arrange to have the box waiting for the pickup, but only because I want to get rid of the couch and get my refund. I will never order anything from kmart.com (or
sears.com, for that matter) again.

This is going to be the case with ANY curbside delivery service.

They don't tell you it's curbside delivery when you place the order. And the reason Kmart/Sears gave for these people not being allowed to come in is because they're subcontractors, not part of Sears.

Most things you would order online would be curbside delivery. I was looking into exercise equipment a few years ago and that was definitely the case.

Also, Kmart/Sears should've been able to offer you their inhome delivery but it might've cost quite a lot. For instance, I went to the website and pretended to order a treadmill. For curbside delivery, it stated the Freight shipping cost was $66 but the premium (aka 'in home delivery') was $281.

I know it seems confusing especially if you've never ordered an item that requires freight shipping.
