I ordered from their website, but they're also sold repackaged as a lot of more expensive brands, if nail bloggers are correct. I don't want to name names because people have been threatened with lawsuits, but if you google "Diamond Cosmetics repackaged" you'll see various brand names.

They're also sold under the name Colormates at places like Big Lots and Dollar Stores, usually in multipacks.

Diamond are one of the biggest nail polish manufacturers in the US for private label brands, basically it's them and Forsythe (who make Color Club) doing most of the polishes for boutique brands and store brands in the US.

I finally tried a magnetic polish but found my top coat totally blurred the pattern. Has anyone else found this? Or did I somehow do something wrong?

When I use magnetic polishes I let the polish dry almost all the way before I apply my top coat, and it helps prevent the blurring.

Has anyone got any info on W7? Baps & Jojo, have you seen them around? I found some here but they don't seem to have a website.

And I contacted Jesse's Girl Cosmetics because I wanted to know about the Julie G Gumdrop textured polish and I got the following response:
Jesse's Girl Cosmetics wrote:

I've seen W7 around, in cheapy shops I think - I presume you've found something about it being probably vegan if you are asking Kitteh?

Nothing about them being cruelty free or vegan, but I keep seeing them on blogs and I found a chemist here that sells the magnetic polishes - they look nice!

I googled them and they seem to be sold by the set in Argus (UK catalogue store) which is random. There's a set of UV polishes that look awesome. I didn't find out anything about them being CF / vegan though.

Has anyone used Enchanted Polish? They're sold out right now but are supposed to be in stock through Nail Polish Canada next week. I emailed and they said no animals ingredients and no animal testing.

Yeah, I have Austin Powers from them, and it's seriously one of the most gorgeous polishes in my collection. It's a gold linear holo with warm gold glitter scattered throughout.

Is there a vegan nail strengthener that I can get in a drug/beauty supply store?

any insights on "the new black"?

edited to add: I can't find a parent company but resources online indicate cruelty free and their website claims veganness.

I've never seen LA Colors!

Today Butter London is $10 at Ulta. I stocked up and got their nail strengthener.

Okay guys, a bunch of people need to email/facebook ORLY and get to the bottom of this:

http://www.logicalharmony.net/orly-no-l ... z2h9VyOR6u

I will be devastated if this is true, but even if it is I want to know what is in every single polish that they make that isn't vegan? That doesn't seem possible with what I know about animal ingredients and nail polish (carmine sometimes for reds/pinks, guanine/pearl for shimmer but most guanine is synthetic these days).

Not only is ORLY my favorite brand, i'll be hella pissed if it turns out that i've spent well over $100 on non-vegan polish. But i'm hoping this is just them misunderstanding what veganism means:

http://www.orlybeauty.com/contactus

Here is what I wrote:

Hi, I read on a cruelty-free beauty blog that ORLY has recently stated that none of their products can be considered vegan. As a vegan whose favorite polishes are almost exclusively ORLY, this concerns me and i'm hoping it's just a misunderstanding on the part of customer service/the company as to what vegan means. Can you please tell me, in detail, what would be in every single one of your polishes that isn't vegan? Given what I know about animal ingredients that can be nail polish (carmine, guanine, pearl), it just seems unlikely that none of your polishes are vegan.

Thank you in advance for you help.

I don't think it's even necessarily that all of their polishes DO contain an animal ingredient. I think it's mostly that they just don't check anymore to ensure that they do not.

I know when I emailed them a year or two ago they said their polishes were free from animal ingredients, but their treatments were not necessarily. It seems extra weird, because they're owned by the same company as Spa Ritual, and a lot of the shades in both lines are obvious dupes, to the point where I was under the impression they were just the same colors rebottled.

Could they be trying to push the vegans toward the higher priced brand?

I doubt it, Spa Ritual is only a few bucks more and not very widely available.

I really really really don't want this to be true, because nail polish takes forever to use up and I don't want to have to annotate every damn picture I take with an ORLY polish and say 'bought before we found out they aren't vegan'.

Also if you asked me to name my favorite polishes off of the top of my head, they'd mostly be ORLY. Fowl Play? Rock Solid? Space Cadet? These are the polishes that made me collect all of the polishes.

Is this what brand loyalty feels like? It's awful.

Uch, I really hope this isn't true. I'll email tomorrow. I'm gonna be extra irritated if this is true because I still don't have Sparkling Garbage!

I got a reply from ORLY:

"Good afternoon Katie,

I received your comment via our Customer Care Department. Please know that since day one, 38 years ago, ORLY has always had a strict policy against testing our products on animals. ORLY nail lacquers and treatments have always been vegan and we do not use animal by-products in our ingredients.

I would appreciate your sending me a link to the beauty blog you read so that we can contact the editor/blogger and make sure that accurate information is being distributed. We value and appreciate our customer feedback and always strive to manufacture the finest nail care products available on the market."

Anyone else get a reply?
