This dress is completely ridiculous but when I saw it on sale I knew I had to have it.

I ended up getting this dress for graduation! No sparkles, but I got a silly sparkly necklace and I'm going to look for some fun shoes when I'm in NYC this weekend. All the online reviews complain that it's too short, which basically means it's the perfect length for me. I'm stumpy.

Anyway, I wasn't going to get a cotton dress, but this was such nice thick cotton I couldn't resist. And I'm a sucker for horizontal stripes.

That looks really nice! And very re-wearable.

Ah shiitake, I want this. I had it on a wishlist so ModCloth sent an email when it went on sale. I don't have anywhere to wear it anytime soon, and $100 is crazy for a damn dress, right? Right?

I dunno ... if you think in terms of costs per wear. It would work as a summer frock, being sleeveless but could go into the autumn, winter with perhaps a long highlighting colour coat - cardigan - jacket.

even then vary the changes with scarves in solid colours wrapped around the neck ...

I think you could justify it if you want ...

Is velvet in or out?
I kinda want this dress to wear to a wedding (disregard the plunging neckline for a moment) but I was told velvet is out.

For October / November & December velvet is THE fabric ... that is a beautiful dress ...

I want a sparkly holiday dress for my parents holiday party! It's not actually going to be fancy, but that doesn't mean i cannot pretend it will be. Plus i am catering for it so maybe my mom will be the supernice lady that she is and buy me a dress for my culinary services.
Right now i am browsing ModCloth but i think i will check out forever twentyone and find something cheaper.

No one has been coveting dresses for more than five months? I sure have! I really love this dress from Vaute. I can only grab this wee photo, but here's the link.

I think I am too tall for it not to be scandalously short, but I love the book print and I love short dresses. Too pricey though!

I love that book print! They made a skirt out of it last season(?).

EBay it's sold out already!

Oh I would have loved the skirt! I just realized that the model is 5'11" (3 inches taller than me) and she's wearing an XS so I feel like if I got a S it won't be too short at all. So tempted!

I have a general rule for online shopping, that if I look at something multiple times for weeks/months/whatever, then I can buy it. My rule doesn't always justify buying something that expensive, but sometimes I can make up an occasion for it be acceptable.

I've been coveting this dress for a while now. I just feel like I need to know that I'll have a bunch of opportunities to wear it before I buy it!

Hey PPK, I need help!

I need a fancy 1920s-inspired dress for a gala I am coordinating in September. Also shoes that are heels but are comfortable enough to run around in for a billion hours.

I basically have zero money, and am pretty pear shaped which makes me not a fan of the flapper silhouette. But it is really important to me that I look amazing because it's my event! Heeelp.

This one is cheaper but is it as good? What shoes would I wear with it?

strawberry rock, I prefer the lavender dress too, but don't trash your budget for any dress. The cream/white one's probably more flattering on most of us--- are these online only, have you seen them in person?

Shoes: when you say "1920's inspired", are we talking about basically a costume ball, or more modern clothing with a 20's flavor? That'll make a big difference in shoe recommendations.

Okay so the bag I have is a Jo Tote!

I have the raspberry color in this model:

http://www.jototes.com/collections/rose

The bag is still pretty big and it's certainly not light, but it's nice only having one bag and I like having a camera bag that doesn't scream "I'M A CAMERA BAG WITH EXPENSIVE GEAR...STEAL ME"

My goal is modern with a 20s flair, I think some people will be going full-on vintage but I will be running around and meeting important people and my priority is feeling comfortable/confident/hot. I have not seen either dress in person, but it's free shipping both ways anyway...they're actually only about $40 apart, the lavender one is 140. I might do some creative reworking of my budget and think about it but I'm in so much debt it seems irresponsible.

This weekend I should go to Buffalo Exchance and Crossroads and other used places because they have dresses more like $30 which I can afford and maybe I'll find something perfect, who knows. But that first dress is so good!

I don't know, the lavender one is super hot, but I kind of like the white one better in some ways. I feel like I'd personally be more comfortable in it, especially if I were running around coordinating an event.

Also, Modcloth (which is super popular in this thread) has a whole page of good options. This one is $25 if you're a size small, and it would look super cute on a pear shaped person, and here's another lavender dress with a bit of a different shape but some nice detail.

For shoes I'd just go with a basic, short heel in a pump or t-strap shape. If you go with a more modern dress, I'd add some accessories like long gloves or a long necklace to get the point across (and because I really want an excuse to wear long gloves).

I'm probably a size medium but I would totally get the $25 dress otherwise, not because I LOVE it but because I love it for $25. It's a good find. Not sold on the Modcloth lavender one--I'm not into the straps for both aesthetic reasons and because I feel like I'll be too stressed out to be dealing with a strapless bra on top of everything else! The Modcloth 20s page was the first thing I looked at but I just wasn't into anything, or anything that was less than 100 anyway. Maybe I will just magically find something cheap and perfect in person, we will see...
