I just saw a great one at Talbot's (huh?) and went to find a picture to post and learned it was silk and now I got nothing.

I desperately wanted this yellow and black dress, the green petticoat and belt aren't part of it. I had tried it on at this vintage shop in Brooklyn, which is actually plus sized for the most part, but they do have some smaller sizes as well, I've never found anything I actually like there except for this dress, I always just go to see if I find anything I like because I sometimes have a hard time finding things that fit both the lower part of my body which is normal size and my boobahs which apparently not too many people had big ones back in the day, definitely not vintage size....most things at this store usually either end up looking old lady-ish and are usually always waaayyy too big. I tried on the dress and was obsessed with the print and color, but someone obviously made it themselves because the arm holes were totally in the wrong spot and it was such a weird fit and I would have had to take in the bottom/waist a lot and let out the chest a little so I didn't buy it. But then I regretted it and thought I'd go buy it and just fix the fit issues because I love the fabric so much. I looked at their blog and saw they posted the dress and it was on display on a mannequin, of course by the time I got back to the store it was already sold. DAAAAMMMNN! Where will I ever find that fabric ever again?

I'm jonesing for holiday dresses already! I'm thinking maybe or this one (which I totally adore but I'm worried it's too festive to be appropriate for faculty holiday parties!) I'm also debating some of the Trashy Diva ones... and what is the deal with the Shabby Apple website. The fact that it it takes a million years to load every time I try to go there it a huge deterrent from ordering!

Where did you get it? I don't wear dresses often but my nephew is getting married next summer and I can use the tips. I don't want to panic like I did a few years ago when my brother got married and I almost didn't find a dress in time. I don't have much fashion sense and I don't like shopping. The tricky part for me is that I'm 40-ish but I don't want a momsy dress that looks frumpy, but on the other hand I don't want something too young. I'm just going to keep watching your picks, which are gorgeous.

I love that green dress! I got this as a belated birthday present: It's fine corduroy and is so soft, and has pockets! You have to look at it up close on the front and back to fully appreciate the detailing.

This one is from ModCloth. I got is yesterday already (fast shipping!) and I really like it. The sleeves are a little, um, modern. They're only attached on the shoulder so if you lift up your arms you see inner arm skin. But it's sort of fun and a nice twist on it since the dress itself is really classic. The color is gorgeous in person!

^That post reminds me how much I really just want some kind of occasion to wear a sparkly dress. I loooove this one- dark blue and shimmery with a bustier top? yes.- which I only found after seeing this picture of Taylor Swift wearing it. Yeah, I'm a little envious of a teenager.
