You could dye it maybe? I saw an awesome blog post where someone's grandmother had dyed a wedding dress yellow to wear to parties http://blog.johannaost.com/2011/08/08/m ... ding-dress

YES I am horrified by trains/floor-grazing dresses, because they are only opportunities for me to trip.

I was wondering about the feasibility of dying a dress.

Thanks, both of you! Meeeee too. It was about double my price range, but my mother was like, "just try it on, it's near your birthday, I can help you out," and I tried it on and my mother and me and all the ladies in the bridal shop decided I had to get it.

Also, talk to me about how I could possibly ever wear this again after the wedding. It's too pretty (and expensive) not to get to wear again!

Wow, that's gorgeous! So happy you found one you were satisfied with. I think with the right accessories, you'd definitely be able to wear that one again. It'd be a shame to just have it hanging in your closet after your wedding. I'm also in love with the blue/gray one you posted earlier, as well.

Tell me about accessories! I do not accessorize well.

(And I am still so on the fence about that blue/gray ModCloth dress! There aren't enough reviews on the site. Someone else here order it and tell me about it!)

I love the wedding dress! And I think dying it is a great idea.

I still think the ModCloth dress is great! If I had a job/a reason to wear it, I would totally order it and give you feedback, haha.

Vegetalion, I love it too! Short wedding dresses are the best.

I like this a lot:

But I'm trying to only buy clothes that I need for my overseas trip at the end of the year. And this is polyester, so probably not awesome for a European winter.

reason 2: it's a timeless, investment piece. never going to go out of style, so is actually a bargain whatever the cost!

Would you mind telling me where you found it? It's amazing!

I went a little crazy with my birthday money and spent it all on three fantastic everyday dresses from modcloth.com. now i must cross my fingers that they all fit. after reading reviews, i'm relatively sure they will. gahhh.

also, i really want this dress to wear to a friend's wedding, but i'm pretty sure it wouldn't fit or might not be flattering because of the high-ish waist (might accent my wide hips/bum) and pluz i'm not into asymmetry when it comes to hemlines. but still! gah!

Cute! If it were a little longer I would totally buy it too. And I have a dress that I found in an op shop that looks exactly like the second one. Weird.

I want a reason to wear either of these dresses, and since I don't have any reason, I want you to wear (one of) them and take pictures.

On second thought, I guess those are more semiformal than formal, but the right accessories could dress them up? I JUST REALLY WANT TO SEE SOMEONE WEAR ONE OF THEM.

nice! you're right, maybe with accessories. people tend to treat military balls like proms. it's a bit much.

I thought of more! Don't be weirded out that it's from David's Bridal, okay?

The coat is black, right? If so, this one. I love this one:

I think this looks like a tulip!

For some reason I never seem to be able to pull off one-shoulder dresses, but if you can:
