tinglepants!: I tried the Laura Mercier stuff--do you think it's a little dark? Maybe I'm just pale, but I wasn't expecting it to be so dark. As far as I can tell the parent company is OK, too (Gurwitch which was recently purchased by Alticor [also owns Amway]), but there's different information depending on where you look.

When I used it, it was a little lighter than my skin tone (medium olive)--but I do think it's strange that there are only two shades available. Perhaps they're operating under the belief that lighter skin tones don't need a "brightener"? In any case, I think it's pretty unfair to have only two color choices. Their regular concealer has lanolin in it.:(

And some of their things that are labeled as having "no animal byproducts" have some things that are derived from lanolin (but they're only looking at end products). It's nice that the website lists all ingredients of every product, so you can always double-check.

Hmm, Sephora only had one shade. I think it was #1 though. Do you know what the lanolin derivative is called?

Isopropyl Lanolate. It's not in the brightener, but it's in some of the foundations/concealers.

Thanks!! I kept thinking the linalool was somehow a derivative and linoleic acid. I'm kind of paranoid about lanolin. It seems to be in everything!

Eep--I missed the Amway connection the first time 'round. Aside from company practices that aren't too far off from pyramid schemes, they're a huge supporter of the GOP and fundie-right wing causes.

Perhaps I'll just have to decide that looking continually tired is some sort of retro-goth-cool.

I knew there was something bad about Amway! Damnit.

Received an email back today that Stila Brighten and Correct concealer isn't vegan. I still haven't heard about Tarina Tarantino.

i use the urban decay pencil, it will be too dry if you don't use a good eye cream. i press it in so it warms up & set it with ben nye cameo visage powder. stays put until i take it off. i was using cover fx cream foundation, but it was a bit dry looking & too peachy after layering for coverage, even for my blue/purple circles.

I've used Origins' Quick, Hide! concealer for years and I really like it.
This is what I use as well, and I think it's the best concealer I've ever tried for circles, boo-boos, or whatever. Plus a little goes a long way, and it stays put all day, so I hope they never stop making it!

the UD stick got too dry for me as soon as the temps dropped...for some reason, i was hoping that wouldn't happen again...so i tried GloMinerals undereye concealer & so far so good...it has 2 colors in the compact, one peachy, one yellow. i have it in beige, which i think is the lightest. i'm pretty light with yellow tones & have blue/purple circles, yay.
