I got a new bra via Lane Bryant today! The bras at Torrid were cheap and VS did not even have my size (I am at a 40DDD)...

bump.
Yesterday really did feel like the end of summer/beginning of fall. We went from a hot and humid weekend to gray and drizzly. I realize that I need some boots, I've gone without them for too long. I'd love a cute colorful pair of wellies but my calves are too curvaceous for all the regular ones I've tried on at target and the regular shoe stores. Does anyone know where to find a selection of not ugly wide calf boots?

One Stop Plus has a bunch of boots too. I'm boot shopping myself right now.

Any idea of how to dress to chaperone a 13 your old's dance/birthday party? Just jeans and a cute top?

I love eShakti, I just bought two dresses from there and they are really fantastic fitting. I'm having trouble hotlinking the images, but here are the ones I got: Cute bird dress: http://www.eshakti.com/clothpdpage.asp? ... =CL0022463This one in dark blue: http://www.eshakti.com/clothpdpage.asp? ... =CL0021662

Chiming in on the bra discussion. I was measured and bought a La Mystere from Nordstroms. It was pretty and fit great, but after a few hours I wanted to kill myself. It went back sadly. I just couldnt breathe in it and it was rubbing under my arms.
Next, I went to Lane Bryant and bought a balconette style that looks great on me. But its way too restrictive to wear on a daily basis. Im too much of a comfy person to deal with a bra I can feel all day long.
Low and behold I found a bra at Walmart that I love. It was cheap and its made by Maiden Form I think. Or one of their other lines.
I will say that being measured by a pro helps a bunch no matter where you are shopping!

I am not really plus-sized (I wear a 10ish), but for pete's sake, almost all dresses make me look pregnant. Why god, why.

Drop waist dresses are your friend! Side zip is sometimes better than back zip. Quality of the cut really matters too, as does how well the material drapes on you.

Does anyone know about Onestoplus.com? It is my new friend! Seriously CHEAP bras in extended sizes, a clearance section of the website that is always like 34 pages long, and great customer service and shipping! Gah! Love it so much! Oh, I guess I should say what it is...it's like an online plus-size shopping mall, it pulls from all different brands (Avenue, Ulla Popken, etc.) and even nonleather shoes, all in one place. Check it out!

Ever since I went to cheap spaghetti strap sports bras (and I mean real cheap), I can't really stand regular bras anymore. I mean I want to wear them because they look better but the boobies don't want to be separated from eachother. I always have had trouble with bras anyway but I don't want to deal with straps, cups, making sure my sides are in, etc. Some part of me thinks I should at least look into nicer sports bras.

we have different needs, since for me its the boobies that put me in plus size territory. i cant even imagine sport bras being comfortable. but if you found something that works, by all means stick with it! but if you found something thats meh, and looks like crepe, go get fitted! a good bra can completely change how you look.

My favorite bra is from Kmart. It's from their store line, I think it's called Pink or something like that. They cost something like $8 and they fit awesome. Here it is! http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_1010 ... cReq=falseI have it in red and in pink, and I want to get it in black, brown, and cream too. I like the 50's retro shape too, it's a bullet bra, without being too bullet. I have a super soft stretchy cotton DKNY bra I got on clearance at Macy's too. It's incredibly comfy, but it makes my boobs into oddly shaped pancakes. Not sexy. Well, pancakes are sexy in that they're delicious, but pancake boobs are not so much. I have no idea where to go near me to get measured for a bra, but I read how to do it on the internet and made my husband help me, and yes, proper fitting bras are awesome.

You can get measured at Lane Bryant, The Avenue, and Victoria Secret. Just make sure you get someone who looks like they know what they are doing. You dont want some part time student who isnt trained properly doing it.

I've been measured before but my problem is I have a lot of loose skin from weight loss and my ideal bra has a high back, high sides and isn't full coverage. I also hate back clasps for some reason. I was browsing HerRoom.com last night and I might have found some alternatives. Like this. http://www.herroom.com/vanity-fair-19-0 ... -bra.shtml

I got this skirt from eshakti, it's so pretty! http://www.eshakti.com/clothpdpage.asp? ... 2542&pcat=I'm not ordering from eshakti anymore though, I paid $30CAD duty at the door for this skirt. It's a bit ridiculous. I don't get dinged like that for any other packages, just ones from eshakti. It's the second time this has happened. Last time it was like $48CAD :(

When I need something for fancy dress I usually go to Deb, there's almost always one fancy dress at least that isn't ridiculously teen or clubwear and appropriate for evening weddings and whatnot. Especially around homecoming/winter formal/prom times of year.

The only deb around here closed down. I usually end up at Dress Barn or Macy's. If I need anything for this winter, my sister gave me a dress that is fantastic. Hoping I get a chance to use it!
