Those dresses are great!
cheshire, I also find some things through old navy. Their cuts vary a lot so I usually have to try stuff on. And I'm too short for their jeans...boo

Bridesmaid dress crisis averted! I'm in my bff's wedding in April and we went to purchase dresses on Saturday. She had told me originally that we were to pick our own dress, so I went 3 times trying on different ones until I found the one I wanted. Something happened between point A and point B and I ended up buying a dress that I didn't really like because it was what the other bridesmaid wanted and somehow now we were to match. I told her the next day that I was happy to wear it for her, but I didn't really like the shape on my body (she brought it up - I didn't). Last night she called from the bridal shop after picking out the MOH's dress which ended up being a different one. MY bff said she'd thought about it, talked to shop, cancelled my original order and ordered me the dress I wanted (sans the bolero jacket that I really didn't like, but didn't mention at all). They needed my cc number because they owed me a $15 refund! I already loved my girl so much, but this is just one more thing: "The only way I'll be happy is if you're happy and comfortable."

This is the one I'm getting http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Satin-Empire-Ball-Gown-with-Chiffon-Halter-81441_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-Long-Bridesmaid-Dresses

ETA: I have a built in excuse for new dresses for all the showers and rehearsal dinner, right?

I'm plus size too and shopping is a nightmare. It seems like they have to ugly-fy everything and/or make the pant legs and arms 2 feet wide.

I wear scrubs to work, so I really don't buy a lot of clothes. I don't dress in the way I would like basically because what I like doesn't come in my size. Like how about a nice fitted jacket in a plus size. No. Every plus size jacket I see is some unflattering bulky ugly thing.

My last years resolution was to weigh X amount less by the end of the year. Miserable failure. I'm going to try again and see how this year goes. I have no delusions of ever being thin. I don't like my size though.

Can I politely request no body hate in this thread?

I totally understand the frustration of not being able to find clothes you like that fit. I'm a size 28 and even a lot of plus-size lines don't go up to my size. It makes me appreciate places like Lucie Lu even more.

I am between size 10 and 12 and I still sometimes shop plus size because all the cute stuff at "regular" stores generally stops at 8 (if that!) and the sizing is wonky. I will try on a size 12 at fancy stores and it will be waaaay too small. :(

Skewed image of a healthy body image, hmmm fashion industry???

All of the stuff in this thread is totally darling though!

So what are the reviews on the eshakti dresses? I think I'm going to buy one.

Are they as awesome and perfectly fitted to size as they seem?

i like mine! i didn't order a special size, but a 14 seemed like it would fit me and it does. the dress i got ended up being a little less dressy than it looked online, so i didn't wear it to the wedding, but it's still a really nice dress and seems well made.

just fyi - if anyone has a Ross, I keep seeing dresses like this. I almost bought one, but I'm trying to hold off on buying things I'll only wear once...but still! They're super cheap, too.

Can anybody recommend me some good jean brands? I find mine always end up sagging in the butt and I'm constantly having to pull them up because they don't fit my body shape; I carry most of my weight in my stomach. I have one pair that are nice that I got at Additionelle, but they have an annoying fabric blend that chaffs really bad.

Thanks for the head's up! I'll have to check Ross, because I'm still coveting this dress but can't justify the expense at the moment.

Torrid's house-brand jeans (specifically the Roxanne ones, I think they're called?) are the best-fitting jeans I've ever had. I also carry most of my weight in my stomach, and constantly have the problem of things getting saggy in the butt/legs - these don't. I can wear them for a week or two at a time between washings and they still fit really well.

Thanks amandabear, I'll check them out.

I'm currently in love with this top: http://www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/store ... ments=Size
I just wish it was in a different colour.

And this dress, which is saying something since I haven't liked/worn a dress in over 10 years: http://www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/store ... ments=Size

I really want cute underwear that makes me feel pretty when I wear it. This seems to be an issue for plus size women, atleast in my area. All the stores that carry cute underwear only make itsy bitsy ones, not nearly big enough to cover my big asparagus. And the plus size stores only carry granny pantaloons! Are there any good online retailers?

Lane Bryant actually has some really cute stuff right now in their Valentine's collection. Hips and Curves is a good site for lots of plus size lingerie, but I think LB has a better selection of undies.

I'm not sure of your body type but Old Navy has some pretty good jeans. I know there's one with a "front panel," if that interests you, but I have a plus friend that loves the "Sweetheart" jeans.

Have yall seen any cute swimsuits around? I can never find a good tankini. Patterns are really not my style, and everything seems to be a big, loud pattern.

Same here. Torrid jeans are a big hit and miss, I found a few pairs I like and the rest are to big in the legs, butt and back thighs...The pair I am loving right now come from Forever 21+ and were $12 (with tax!).

As for undergarments (as people are talking about). I have a hard time. Most are way to big in my butt area if they fit in my waste. I stick to a boy cut boxer style from Hanes...they stay up and are not baggy.

I'll have to check out the Lane Bryant online shop, we don't have those stores here! Thanks.

I bought two swimsuits from this site: http://www.alwaysforme.com/
And they fit like a dream! They have some really cute ones mixed among some ugly ones.
